In every subject, there are always some topics and questions that are asked commonly every year, and only those who do their research by practicing class 12th chemistry previous years question papers and sample papers can know this. Therefore, it is very important to practice them.

First have a look at the class 12th blueprint of Chemistry.

Chemistry Paper Pattern

Each and every chapter is divided into 4 types of question categories. The first one is very short answer (VSA), carries 1 mark and only one question from any chapter can come in this category. The answers to VSA questions should be very short or small. Students must not waste too much time writing answers to these kinds of questions.

The Second one is Short answer 1st (SA I), in this category maximum 2 questions can come from any chapter. Each question carries 2 marks. The answer to these questions should be between 1 to 3 lines and not more than that.

The third one is Short answer 2nd (SA II), in this category, only one question from any chapter will be asked. Each question will be of 3 marks and students are required to give all the main details of answers to these questions to score full marks. E.g if a definition is asked in the question, then you will need to write the definition as well as other details like formula, examples etc.

The Fourth and the final category is the long answer (LA), only one question from any chapter will be asked in this category. Each question will hold 5 marks, and students need to write all details while answering these question. Mostly three things regarding the question are asked in this category and that are definition, derivation and finally a numerical.

From a Loser to a Toper – How Vikas Did it?

I remember a silly boy from my class in 1998, he was involved in all sort of activities but studies. He was the dumbest of all when it come to studies, and that is why we use to call him weak-ass(Vikas) and may be the teachers too.

By the way, his name is Vikas. It was the time of Winters somewhat mid-November, and that day when I entered the class I was extremely amazed, I saw Vikas sitting right on the front bench with a book on his table. As that was not enough, he went on giving a shock to the whole class and teachers by having his class assignment done right on time.

Vikas As a Hero

I don’t know what changed him, but he suddenly started gaining interest in studies. In the next coming months he remained the same. Since my roll no. was quite away from his, therefore, in board exam we use to sit in separate rooms, but my classmates who sat with him use to say that he writes like anything. He doesn’t spare even a second and keeps his eyes and mind only on the paper.

And the final shock all our class had, was on the result day, the topper of the class was the topper of the whole area and guess who it was? Vikas!

When we asked him what he did for such a success? this is what he said.

Vikas’s tips to top the class

First of all, there was an incident that changed him, but that’s not the point. The main thing is, his studying timetable and tips to score good marks.

Firstly you need to be disciplined like Vikas, never compromise with your studies. If you have planned to give 3 hours to study then don’t let anything change that.

Secondly, make a stable and practical time table for yourself. And by stable and practical I mean the one that you can really follow.

Once you have a time table then follow it regularly, most of the people do make resolutions but fail to execute them daily. Don’t let it happen to you.

Try to complete the NCERT books first and then move to other books. Most of the questions in the board exams are asked from NCERT book.

Remembering the topics you studied before is the key. Of course, you need to keep on progressing forward but keep revising previous topics on regular time intervals.

Practice as many sample and previous years paper as you can. They prepare you well for the exams and also gives you a very good idea of how the paper will be. But do not totally rely on these papers completely, give some time to in-depth reading of the topics from the reference books.

Here is a very effective tip for you: When you are lying down on your bed at night, then close your eyes and try to recall all the things that you studied the whole day. It will look very hard at the starting, but you will see that you can recall things more quickly as the days will pass. This will make your memory sharp and help remember things for a longer time. Trust me! this will work for sure but you have to follow it until your exams get over.
