Important Questions That Will Come In Board Exam

One way of determining maths important question is to practice the previous 10 years question papers, and other practice papers as much as possible.

Students should give more time to those chapters which are important and hold more marks, and you can know it by the weightage table or marks distribution scheme.

First, let us discuss the paper pattern of maths board exam. As you can see in the table, the paper will be divided into 3 sections.

CBSE 12th Maths blueprint 2015-16

The first section is the very short question (VSA), this section will have total 10 questions and each question will hold 1 mark. These questions must be answered in short, and do not waste too much time on them. Try to keep your answers ready for these questions when you get the extra 15 minutes time to read the question paper.

The second section will be short answers (SA), 12 questions will be asked in the section and each question will hold 4 marks. These questions must be answered very wisely.

The last section is long answers (LA), total 7 questions will come in this section and each question will be of 6 marks. The questions asked in this section are the most challenging ones, therefore, students must be very focused while answering them. Try to write some theory if you are not sure about the formulas and calculations.

Important questions chapter wise

As you can see in the table there are total 6 units in the syllabus of Maths:

Relations and Functions: This unit holds 10 marks and includes two chapters. The first chapter is relation and function and the second one is inverse trigonometric functions. As the table shows, there will not be any long answer for this unit, therefore, you can invest time on it but limited. If you think it is taking longer then let it go (of course if you are running out of time).

Algebra: This unit carries 13 marks, and contains two chapters, matrices, and determinants. This unit is worth investing time, but since the calculations in these chapters are quite long and complex, therefore, make sure you stay focused while practicing these chapters.

Calculus: Undoubtedly this is the most important unit and contains the maximum marks, but the chapter and level of their difficulties are also very significant. If time is an issue for you then you should probably skip this unit, but let me warn you that this is the unit to practice if you want maths in your further studies.

Vectors and 3D Geometry: This is a unit that every student should look for, it holds 17 marks and is the easiest of all the units. This unit is a savior to those who are not prepared for the board exam, and a percent booster to those who dare to dream for 90’s. So, students must practice this unit as good as they can, and squeeze maximum marks out of this unit.

Linear Programming: Only one question of 6 marks comes from this unit in the exam, but trust me if you have practiced this unit even once then you can get all 6 marks from this unit, such easy this unit is. It is one of the most favorite units of students.

Probability: This unit holds 10 marks, and usually two question are asked from this unit. One in SA and one in LA, so it’s up to students what they want to do with this unit.

Tips and tricks to get 90+ marks

Regular practice is the first and key point to achieve success.

Learn tricks and techniques that will help you to do fast calculations and also improve your accuracy.

To improve calculation skills, you should try to do all the calculations on your own and try to press the temptation of using a calculator, as you won’t get one on the day of the exam.

Mark all the important question from each and every chapter, as it will help you in the last minute revision.

Note down formulas that are important in a separate notebook chapter wise. This trick can prove really handy whenever you are struggling.

Do not leave a single thing in NCERT official book as most of the questions in board exams come from it. Therefore, it is very important that you cover the whole NCERT book.

Do not go for any new chapters if it’s late for any preparation, just keep those chapters strong which you already know.

Finally, Maths is a subject that you can never learn by mugging up. You will have to get those formulas and concepts in your head, try to understand it.

All the best, hope you will achieve your desired percentage.

    1. Prof. Divyanshi Sharma

      Hi Aakash.
It’s really good that you are aiming to score full marks in maths. But getting 100 marks is very rare. Just practice from previous year paper and sample papers. Keep yourself focused and calm during your examination. Don’t forget to revise formulas. Practice as much as you can. As, not much time is left for exam focus on those chapters in which you are confident. Study hard and you will score good marks for sure.

  5. Hi!

I have solved 7 yrs papers,I am abt to complete the 8th one.I am not going to solve further more, but rather revise these 8 yrs papers only.I attempt it for strictly 3 hrs. After that, whatever I don’t know,I practice it.nd learn the method.I had even solved 2-4 sample papers from u-like.And right now,I am doing Cbse sample papers which was just released.

But my qs. is that most of the time, the final ans which I get doesn’t match with the actual ans.I mean to say, there’s always simplification problem ie. there was scope to simplify it even further which I don’t get.How can I improve in this??
This is not due to lack of practice. Is there any other way out?Because CBSE boards demands an ans in a certain simplified way to get full marks.

Secondly,in my boards exam,if I don’t know any qs. how will I tackle it??I mean, how will I go abt it?? since I want to score 100/100 and not lose any marks whether due to simplification issue or any other?

    Plz. reply ASAP

    1. Prof. Divyanshi Sharma

      Hi Abhishek.
You have already prepared from previous year paper so, that is absolutely a plus point for you. And yes, it is quite important to revise your chapters as, not much time is left for the board exam. As you have mentioned you are facing problem in simplification and are unable to come up with the correct answer, this may be due to the fact that you are in hurry of attempting all the questions. So, while answering keep yourself focus on the question that you are attempting. Getting 100 marks are really rare chance. But keep on working hard. If you find any question that you are unable to answer then don’t waste too much time on it as, time management is really important during exam. Be confident and dedicated you will for sure score good marks.
