Consistency In Study

About accountancy, the first thing that you should know is that you can never get good marks until you are in the regular practice of it.

Unlike maths, accountancy does not have fixed formulas to solve problems, one needs to be familiar with the problems while attempting to solve them, and this is only possible if you are in regular practice. And if you haven’t started yet then you are lagging behind.

Utilizing Previous Year Papers

It would be a complete waste of time if the accountancy previous year papers that you have downloaded from here are just sitting on your system and are not being used. So, go through them and try to solve them.

Just solving previous year’s papers is not enough, you should go a step further and look for those questions which are commonly asked in papers, as this will give you an edge in knowing the important questions that you should prepare the most.

Staying In Touch

If you often forget the topics that you had studied 10 to 15 days before or 1 to 2 months before, then you will be glad to know that you are not the only one. Forgetting is a general tendency of humans, but you can avoid this weakness by staying in constant touch with older topics.

Make short notes of your own for each topic, and also note the important question regarding that particular topic, this will help you to do a quick revision whenever you want.

Smart Study

You must have heard the term ‘smart work’, well! it’s time that you bring it to use. Do not go for the extra topics that you will find in those fat books, they may be knowledgeable, but it takes time to study all that is in them, so prepare only those topics which really matters.

Neat work and Time Management

While practicing the problems, be in the habit of keeping your work neat and clean, as it will save you a lot of time and extra labor on the exam day.

Divide your time wisely for each and every topic and try to complete each topic in the respective time period.

If time is an issue for you, then consider preparing only those topics that are easy and those which you have already studied. And please do not just rely on the mercy of sample papers.

On The Day Of Exam

  1. First of all, make sure you read the question paper thoroughly.
  2. Once you are done reading the question paper, mark those question which you can answer very well.
  3. Try to finish the 1 marks questions quickly, do not waste extra time on them if you are not able to answer any question.
  4. Do not invest too much time in a question that is giving you hard times, just leave some space for it and come back to it once you finish other questions.
  5. Try to break long answers into points, as this will make it easy for the examiner to score that question which is a good thing. But if you do not know much about the question then answer the question in paragraphs and highlight important points with a black pen.
  6. Keep your answers very neat and clean while making a balance sheet or any such table. You can end up wasting time on calculations if your work is messy.
  7. Go through your answer sheet at least once when you finish your paper to check if you have answered all the questions correctly.
  8. Finally, if you still get time after completing all the question and reading the answer sheet at least once, then attempt those question which is beyond your preparation.
  9. Always remember none of your work goes spare, if you have written anything related to the question asked in your answer sheet, then you will get something for it. Therefore, it is very important that you try to attempt the maximum question and write everything possible related to the question (consider to try this tip only and only when you complete all the questions that you know).
  10. At last, keep your mind cool and then attempt the paper.

Best of luck with your board exams, and leave a comment if you want to ask something, we will be more than happy to answer.

    1. Hi Ashwin.
Here are few things that can help you a lot. Pay attention and make notes during classes. It’s the best way to understand the topics as teachers have years of practice discussing the same topics. If there is any doubt or confusion clear it from them as soon as possible instead of delaying it for exam time. Put in your best effort for the Business Studies project, it may be only 10 marks but its an easy way of scoring. Prepare a schedule for self studies, keeping in mind scoring topics, your strong topics and your weak topics. Read through your notes as often as possible, without even trying to memorize you will be able to remember a lot. Try to understand point-wise so you can answer questions easily. Highlight and rewrite important concepts. Focus on NCERT books as most of the exam is based out of NCERT. After studying a chapter try explaining the important points in your own words, this will help you summarize and revise the topics. Most important is practice previous year papers/ sample papers to get used to the pattern of questions, trends and also to easily identify your weak areas. The most common problem arises with the question paper being too lengthy and not having enough time, to avoid this, practice writing your answers. When you write answers keep in mind the most important factor is clarity. Use headings and suitable points to make your answers easy to read and easy to understand. Avoid overwriting. Keep doing the hard work and you will score good marks for sure.
