# Words From Himanshu (Last year’s Topper)

Hey! I am Himanshu. Last year I passed class 10th with a 98.8 CGPA. At the time of preparation, it looked near to impossible to score such good marks, and frankly speaking, I was so distressed in the last four months. One day, my friend visited my house having the previous year’s papers in his hand.

He was returning from his tuition classes. He realized my condition and suggested me study from the previous year’s papers.

I started with all my heart, and within two months I was having a satisfying experience, and I continued the same way. Today, I am very thankful to my friend.

# Words From Priya (Topper of 2014)

Hello, guys, I am Priya.

Practicing previous year’s papers proved to be a lifesaver for me. Yes, believe me, things got so much easier for me. From the very beginning, I was a studious student but despite the fact, I was feeling a bit nervous as the exams were coming near.

In the last 3 months. I only studied the previous year’s papers and as a result, I got a 95 CGPA. Thanks to my teachers and parents who helped me a lot.

I hope it will help you to decide how much the previous year’s papers are beneficial for you. I think you should give it a try.

CBSE 10th Previous Year Question Papers – Download Them

The pdf files of all the subjects are given at the start of this article. you can download them easily, but make sure that you have a PDF reader installed on your device.

I have tried to cover 10 previous year papers on all the subjects, but some papers may be missing because they were not available on the internet. Our team is up to the task, the missing papers will be uploaded soon.

Concentrate on every subject equally and you will surely score good marks. And do not forget to go through the previous year’s papers that you will download from here.

English – The Scoring Subject

Since English is a language subject, therefore, it is easy to prepare and, hence, students end up caring less about this subject. But, this is a wrong approach if you want to score a good percentage in the board exam.

Subjects like English and Hindi should be considered as the marks-boosting subjects. You can score 80% and 90% without even breaking a sweat, but that does not mean you should avoid this subject. Instead, you should prepare it the best way you can.

While practicing English, make sure you practice the grammar part well. Memorize the format of the writing section like letters, notices, etc. In the writing section, half of the marks are for formatting, and try to keep your content meaningful. Focus more on quality than quantity.

Mathematics – Not That Hard

Maths is a subject that requires complete concentration and dedication, and maybe this is why students usually don’t find it easy.

The best way to practice maths is to keep your basics clear. Before you start practicing any chapter, try to keep the basic concepts of that chapter clear, then only you will be able to really master that chapter.

Formulas of that particular chapter should be at your fingertips. You can note the important formulas and questions in a separate diary so that it becomes easier for you to revise them, whenever you want.

Science – The Three parts

Though there is only 1 NCERT book for all three parts i.e. Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, students usually go for a separate refresh for each part.

It’s good to practice from other refreshers, but make sure you complete your NCERT book, as most of the questions in the board exam are asked from the NCERT book.

To score good marks in science, you will need to practice every part equally well. But if you find any part hard then you can skip it, but then you will need to prepare the other two parts very well.

Social Studies – Not So Boring

Most students find Social science a boring subject, but they should know that it can be a scoring subject as it is mostly a theory-based subject.

You can write long answers by simply memorizing small terms and points i.e. small points can be elaborated to write big answers.

You can make a separate notebook and write important terms and points in that notebook. This will help at the time of revision.

Hindi – Source Of Percentage

Hindi is, of course, the easiest of all subjects, and that is why students leave it for the last day. But they forget that Hindi can prove to be such a good source of percentage.

Not that you should spend hours studying Hindi, but, at least, give it some time, so that you are well prepared to score maximum marks in this subject.

    1. Prof. Rajeev Mehra

      Hello Yugansh,
I can imagine how frustrating it must be when you are doing everything right and still not getting what you want. But never give up, just keep putting all your efforts and it will definitely be worth it.

At the point where you are the only advice i can give is to request for your answer sheets from school. Give them the genuine reason why you want it, i am sure they will understand. And if they don’t then ask you subject teacher to point at the mistake that you are doing in exam.

One more thing, it may be that your school does it on purpose so that student work hard for board exams, so don’t take it too roughly. Just give your 100%.

In the morning, manage some time for revision (what you study at night). On Sundays or off day you can more time to subjects. And for map, you can practice by locating important locations or place that you know or remember, try it on blank map.

  18. Sir weather board Paper will come from NCERT or not? Sir please tell me what you think

    1. Hello jaiprakash,
Most of the questions in board exam comes from NCERT. Obviously, the questions won’t be exact, but will be based on NCERT questions. SO, prepare NCERT very well.

  19. Hi, i am Ankit priyadarshi from Begusarai Bihar. I am studying in doon public school, and my school timing is 8:00am to 4:00pm, after that i have a coaching for 1 hour. I wake up at 5 o’clock in the morning. So, how could i make a routine?

    1. Hello Ankit,
Following should be your timetable according to me:

5 AM to 6:45 AM- Social science
      5 Pm to 6 PM – break
      6 PM to 7:30 PM – Maths
      7:30 PM to 9 PM – Science
9 PM to 10 PM – dinner and other activities
10 PM to 11 PM – Hindi and English on alternate days
11 PM onward – good night sleep.

Note:- You should adjust timing and subjects according to your needs. e.g if you are weak in some subject then you should give more time to that subject.

And don’t forget to assign at least one day in a week for revision. And given the last 10 days before the exam to revision.

  20. I am in class 10th and want to know what should be accurate study hrs to get a revision of all subjects daily. I have coaching from 4:30 to 6:30 and have to do my school Homework also.

    1. Hello Saurav,
Firstly it’s time you start doing more self study. By now the syllabus in coaching classes should be over, if so, then you should quite coaching and dedicate that time in self study. There is no greater way to study then self study. If you can give up coaching classes, then you will have to carve some time from other activities so that you can invest it in self study. 20 to 25 days will be enough to do revision of all chapters, though you should do revision at the end of every week.

If you pay enough attention in coaching classes and in school classes, then 1 hour at nigh after diner should be enough to revise whatever you have learned in the whole day.

  21. I am a class 10th student, and did not join any tuition. But after some time i forget some points that i have studied before. I want to ask that is it essential for me to join tuition.

    1. Hello Suraj,
The problem that you are facing is very common among students, we are humans and we tend to forget things. There is no need of any tuition, noting can prepare you better than self studies. You just need to make some adjustments to your studying schedule. Keep up with your studies, but give at least 1 or 3 days in a week to revise what you have studied the whole week. And then at the end of the month revise everything that you have studied the whole month. This way you will never miss any point.

  22. sir/mam,pleasen provide sanskrit question papers for class 10 also

  23. Hi,
How can I manage my time? because I give very little time to study. Please suggest me.

    1. Prof. Rajeev Mehra

      Hello Ashutosh,
You already know answer to your question, just try to give more and more time to your studies. First of all you need to understand that there is nothing more important than you studies. And since the board exams are knocking on the door, therefore, it’s time to buckle up. You must give at least 5 to 6 hours to self studies.

I am not telling you to sit for 5 continues hours, you can break them, like 1 or 2 hours in the morning, 2 hours in evening, and 2 hours at night. All the course must be complete in tuition classes by now (if you are taking any), so it’s time to quite tuition and do more self study.

  24. HI i just want to work hard please can any on suggest me how to be focused and determined without any deviations? please help me out.

    1. Prof. Rajeev Mehra

      Hello Abdullah,
Concentration is a skill that few people are able to develop efficiently. There will always be something to distract you from what you are trying to focus on. So, building a laser like focus for long time is a challenging task. But then, if it was not challenging, everyone would be doing it. Here are some tips that will help your in building better concentration.

Meditation: it is the most effective and easy way to achieve unshakable concentration. But, it will take time and dedication.

Limit distractions: When you sit to study, find a place where no one can distract you. Don’t take any kind of distractions like phone, computer with you. Not even snacks to eat, as they can become source of distraction.

  25. Pre-Board marks are added or not in the final result?

    1. Prof. Rajeev Mehra

      Hello Bhowmik,
Pre board marks are not added to the final result. As per new CBSE paper pattern, students will have to give board exam at the end of the year, in which questions from complete class 10th syllabus will be asked. And no marks of any pre board exam will be added in the final board exam result.

  26. Hi Mam. I am bad in English. I want to learn but I find it boring. Please advice me some way to learn English easily. I’m in class 10. Please help me.

    1. Hi Prachi.
As, you have mentioned you are facing problem in learning English so my first advice to you is start reading if you really want to improve your English. Start with small story books or your own syllabus book or you can read newspaper, magazine etc. This will help you improve your vocabulary. Reading is the easiest and best way to develop interest towards English. Next thing is having a good command over English grammar. For this you will have to begin from the basics like understanding the concept of noun, pronoun, tenses, verbs, adverbs etc. At first you will find it difficult but if you study regularly then it will just matter of time that you will see your own improvement. Keep in mind that English is a language first and then a subject. You can set small targets for yourself like you will read minimum two stories, articles or anything in English and underline the word that you don’t understand and look for the meaning of that word and write it down in your notebook. Keep on practicing and doing hard work eventually you will improve.

  27. After preparing the previous 10 years papers, do i need to read other books?

    1. Hello Rahul,
Practicing previous year paper is the best way to prepare for board exam, but you can not just rely on them. Studying from book is necessary.

  28. Hello mam. I’m in class 10th class and I’m really not good at time management. Please tell me how many hours I should study.

    1. Hi Kartikeya.
As, you have mentioned that you are in 10th so, you mus be aware with the new CBSE board exam pattern. Now that CBSE have discontinued the CEE pattern and included that students will have to full syllabus for board exam from 2017-18 session so, now you have to work little harder. But don’t get nervous just keep yourself focused and do hard work. You must study for at least 5-6 hours giving each subject more or less one hour. Focus more on subjects like Maths, English and Science. Make a time table for yourself and divide your syllabus accordingly. And importantly follow this time-table strictly. Keep on doing the hard work and you will score good marks.

  29. Hello mam. I am listing that the question paper of class 10 is now of 80 marks only and 20 marks will given by school tell me its true or not?

    1. Hi Aman.
Yes! CBSE have discontinued the CEE pattern from 2107-18 session. And a new assessment structure have been introduce for class 10th board exam. The board exam will be of 80 marks and 20 marks will be given by school based on internal assessment. When it comes to Maths there is no shortcut other then to practice. You will have to practice a lot and study regularly. Don’t loose hope just be focused while studying. To make things easier for yourself by learning all the formulas by heart. Be dedicated towards your studies. If you are finding maths hard then you can give little extra time like half or one hour to practice. Don’t keep any kinds of doubts as it is important that your basic concept are clear. I would recommend you to study from NCERT only. Practice as much as you can and you will score good marks for sure.

      Hi Gautham.
As you have mentioned you are facing problem in remembering the chapters of social science, this may bee due to the fact that you are not fully concentrating while studying. Always be focused when you are studying and practice by writing the important dates or events. Once you start studying this way it will become easier for you to remember. Keep on working hard and you will score good marks.

      Hi Rahul.
First of all you need to be confident. To obtain good marks in maths you must clear your concepts. You need to practice a lot and while studying always be focused. Keep on revising your chapters as, not much time is left for exams. Be dedicated and focus on those chapters in which you are confident that you can score good marks. Don’t forget the importance of formulas so, keep on learning them. Work hard and you will score good marks.

    1. Prof. Divyanshi Sharma

      Hi Rahul.
It depends upon the merit decided by the CBSE Board, so work hard, if you want to take maths as a subject in 11th standard, so try to score at least 7.6 CGPA, make a strategy to score such good marks. Try to solve as many sample papers and previous year question papers as you can solve, and be dedicated.

  38. I WANT TO KNOW HOW TO PREPARE FOR BOADS TO GET GOOD RESULTS.BOARDS FOR CLASS 10TH.

    1. Prof. Divyanshi Sharma

      Hi Yeshu.
First thing that you have to do is, you have to be calm, if you want to get good marks. Secondly, be dedicated towards each and every topic that you are studying. Whatever topic you study make sure to be clear with that and for that try to solve questions related to that topic from sample papers and previous year question papers. Time is less, learn time management. Set a proper strategy that till what time you have to complete one topic and work according to that only. Work hard, you will get good marks.

  43. hello sir,
I am priyasweta, this year I will give cbse class 10 school board exam. My question is school based exam good or board exams?actually I did have the board exam option in my school, and in science how do we practise the diagrams?for eg – ray diagrams.
And also suggest some tips how to score better in these exams.

    1. Prof. Divyanshi Sharma

      Hi Priyasweta.
You should go for board examination rather than home board, and we recommend you to practice each and every diagram thoroughly, to understand it better. Draw those diagrams and understand the concept behind, that how they are actually drawn, and to score well in your board examination, you will have to be completely dedicated towards your studies. Utilize each and every minute for the best and practice from sample papers and previous year question papers. Work hard, you will get good marks.

  44. Sir ,can you ask me if will read which book then I score better in maths

    1. Prof. Divyanshi Sharma

      Hi Kiran.
Although all the books are good, it all depends upon you that from which book you are able to understand concepts more easily, so as hardly one month is left, we recommend you to go for either R.S.Aggarwal or R.D.Sharma, also we recommend you to practice from sample papers and previous year question papers to get more good marks.
