When to start NDA Preparation to be an Officer

The word “Officer” in itself defines the powerful aspect it carries. They are leaders of the Defence Forces. Leading services in extreme environments, leaving behind all personal things and dedicated towards its duty to serve the nation on one foot defines An Officer. They are driven, ambitious and passionate about what they do. Following are some important characteristics of an Officer which is essential to entail in one’s life to become an Officer.

Courage:- An Officer is a person who does not back down from the threat. Courage to face fear, danger, and adversity. The physical courage plays an important role; it’s a matter of enduring physical duress and risking personal safety.

Serve the nation first:-  Officer is meant to give priority to the welfare of the nation, the army, and the subordinates before oneself.

Discipline:- Discipline is what they’re known for as it is said that “an army is created by discipline and if it goes missing its worthless”.

Integrity:- Integrity is a quality that soldiers develop by adhering to strict moral principles. In it, the officer never does and says anything that affects any other person in any way.

Loyalty:- Loyalty towards the country is his main aim in any case (s) he can never cheat on the country, it is their moral obligation. A loyal soldier is one who supports the leadership and takes stands for its subordinates in any appearing situation. An officer always treats others with all dignity and respect without expecting anything from others.

Mental agility:-  Mental agility is always more valuable than intelligence, education, skills and even social graces.

Other important characteristics of an officer include leadership, confidence, improvisation, teamwork, belief, adaptability etc. Being an officer is a pride in itself and glory to the country.

When can one start preparing for National Defence Academy (NDA) Entrance Exam?

NDA(National Defence Academy) is a Joint Service Academy of Indian Armed Forces, where cadets of three services, the Army, the Navy and the Airforce gets trained together before joining their respective services for further pre-commissioning training. The main motto behind setting up National Defence Academy is “Service before Self”.

NDA is the first Tri-Service academy in the world and is one of the best academies. It is located at Khandakwasla near Pune, Maharashtra.  Later Major General E Habibullah was the first commandant of National Defence Academy.

The best time to prepare for NDA entrance exam is when you enter class 11th and onwards. From the initial stage clear all your basic concepts and make notes regarding the subject.

Which will help you in revision and there are many related books and mock test available which can be referred. It takes a lot of effort and a good sense of humor to crack this exam.

To reach NDA is a milestone and for that one has to clear its entrance exam. Following are eligibility criteria to appear in the NDA entrance examination:-

Education eligibility:- 12th pass of the 10+2 pattern of school education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University with Science and Mathematics subjects with 60%, students can appear for the exam. Apart from that, only unmarried male candidates can attend the exam.

Age limit:- A student must be 16 ½ to 19 ½  years old at the time of joining the NDA.

Age relaxation:- There is No age relaxation For NDA entrance exam.

 Minimum Height:- Students will have to follow the Minimum height criteria which are 157 cms(162.5 cms for Air Force).

Body Marks: – There must not be any kind of artificial mark or tattoo on the body.

Physical and Mental standards:- Only physical and mentally fit candidates are eligible to appear for the exam.

Any student appearing in class 12th boards exam can appear for NDA entrance exam but joining will be done as after the final result is declared and the 60% criteria are fulfilled.

Pattern of NDA Exam (Written and SSB)

NDA consists of two phases which include the written exam is conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) and the interview conducted by SSB (Service Selection Board).

The written exam is conducted twice a year at various centers all over the country. The written exam is further divided into two papers one of Mathematics for 300 marks and another General study for 600 marks.

After clearing NDA entrance exam one receives a call letter for SSB interview which is a five-day interview process.

Therefore, If a student is willing to hit the bull eye and fulfills all the above-mentioned criteria then the preparation should be started because NDA entrance exam needs a lot of dedication, self-confidence and hard as well as smart work.
