Army (NA)Nursing Assistant Eligibility And Selection Procedure

As everyone is well aware with the fact that Army provides medical facilities to its staff in almost every state in India. And for that purpose it has its own hospitals, and polyclinics. Like other regular hospitals, military hospitals (MH) also need nursing assistant who can assist doctors.

If you are applying for soldier nursing assistant, then i hope you are familiar with the nursing assistant responsibilities and duties. If not, then here is a quick description :

The main work of nursing assistants is that they have to take care of the patients, assist doctors at various places like in operation theatres etc. Also, a nursing assistant can be appointed to handle the account of medicines in the medical stores. And not to mention that they will administer the first aid in MH.

Its obvious that only people with biology background can apply for this trade, so if you did not had science (medical) in class 12th, then you can not apply for army nursing assistant. Carry on reading to know the eligibility criteria and selection procedure of soldier nursing assistant.

Indian Army Nursing Assistant Eligibility Criteria Age Height Chest

To be eligible to apply Indian military, a candidate need to to satisfy some specific set or standards or eligibility criteria. Without fulfilling the eligibility criteria, no one is allowed to participate in any rally or bharti of army. Following are the qualification or eligibility criteria that you need to fit in to participate in the rally.

Educational qualification

The applicant must be 12th or intermediate pass with physics, chemistry, biology and English as main subjects from a recognized board.

If applying on the basis of class 12th, then the candidate must have scored at least 50% marks in total, and 40% marks in each subject in class 12th.

If the candidate has done graduation in BSc with English and any of the following subject : botany / zoology / bio-science, then the stipulation of percentage in class 12th will not be applied. i.e you can apply even if you didn’t scored above mentioned percentage in class 12th. However, the applicant should have studied the above mentioned 4 subjects in class 12th also.

NA Age limit

The age criteria for soldier nursing assistant is simple, the applicant should not be less than 17½ years old and neither more than 23 years old(17½ to 23 years).

The age will be calculated from your date of birth (as per documents) till the bharti day. So, even if you are just getting couple of day older till the bharti date, then you will considered as non-eligible to participate in the rally.

Physical eligibility

The physical eligibility for different region and state is different. It is possible that a candidate is physically eligible for one state or region and not for other. So, one need to be sure that he check his physical eligibility as per his state and then apply for the bharti.

Match your physical eligibility with the standards given in the table, if you satisfy the height, weight and chest criteria, then you can consider yourself eligible to apply. but, if you are not eligible, then i will recommend you not to apply as you will be disqualified on the bharti ground eventually.

Relaxation in physical standards are given to people having special certificate, like relation and sports certificate. See the below table :

Note : candidates will get the above mentioned benefits only after producing the valid and original documents on the bharti day.

Check the above given eligibility criteria and make sure you fit in all of them, if you do not satisfy any of the given criteria, then it will be useless to apply as you will be eventually disqualified from the rally.

Medical Eligibility

1. The applicant ought to be in a good physique, and should also be in a good mental health.
2. The chest of the candidate should be well developed with minimum 5 cm increase after expansion.
3. Both the ears should be clean with normal hearing capability.
4. Candidate must have a good binocular vision in each eye and should be able to read 6/6 in distant vision chart.
5. He must score at least 14 dental points in the medical test.
6. He should be free from any diseases like varicocele, piles etc.

Note : if you have undergone any operation, then it should be at least 6 months old, else, you may face troubles in medical round.

Soldier Nursing Assistant Selection Process

Before we move on to the selection process, let’s have a look at the list of documents that you will need on the day of bharti.

Please note that candidates will have to carry the indemnity bond with them, else they will not be allowed to participate in the rally.

An indemnity bond is an assurance by you to army that, if any thing happens to you during the rally, it will not be the responsibility of army, and you will not ask for any compensation.

Documents Needed

1. Class 10th passing certificate and mark sheet along with class 12th marksheet.
2. Domicile or residential certificate with photograph issued by the authorised signatory of the State Government / Tehsildar / SDM.
3. Caste Certificate with photograph.
4. Religion Certificate issued by the authorised signatory of the State Government / Tehsildar / SDM.
5. Character certificate given by school or college principal.
6. Character certificate issued by village sarpanch, municipal corporation or police, which should not be less than 6 months old.
7. 20 recent coloured passport size photos, and aadhaar card.

Candidates having special certificate  should bring the original documents with them to avail the benefits.

So, these are the documents that you will need to take with you in the bharti ground. Now, let’s proceed to the selection process.

Online registration

This is the very first step in the recruitment process of soldier nursing assistant. In the bharti, only those candidates will be allowed to participate in rally who will have admit card with them. And you will not get admit card until you register yourself online via the official website of army which is joinindianarmy.nic.in.

Physical fitness test (PFT)

The thing that we know as bharti is actually the physical fitness test. There are series of tests that you will need to clear in order to advance to next stage. Following will be the process of this test :

Documents verification

Since army is a government organisation, therefore, they can not let one pass who do not have proper documents. On the day of bharti, your very first test will be to produce the valid documents, if failed to do so, then you will be disqualified. So, it is recommended that you keep all your documents ready before attending the rally.

Height Measurement

In this round the height of the participants will be measured, those who will not match the standard height criteria will not be allowed to proceed any further. Applicants are advised to check their height before applying for the nursing assistant post, if you do not satisfy the height criteria, then there is no use of attending the rally as you will be disqualified at the very starting stages in the rally.

1600 meter race

The main event of any rally is race, and is also the hardest part as well. More than half of the participants are disqualified in this round. The participants will be divided in different batches, only few candidates will taken from each batch. Following are the details of the race :

• If you complete race within 5 mins 40 – 60 Marks (Group I)
• If you complete race within 5 mins 41 secs to 6 mins to 20 secs – 48 Marks (Group II)
• If complete race after 6 mins 20 secs – Fail

The above given are the standards timings, but on the day of bharti the standards may be raised. e.g to get in group I, you may have to complete the race way before mentioned time due to competition.

Pull up round

If you get through the race then the next round you will be facing is the pull ups round. following are the details :

10 pull ups – 40 marks

9 pull ups – 33 marks

8 pull ups – 27 marks

7 pull ups – 21 marks

6 pull ups – 16 marks

If a participant is not able to do minimum pull ups then he will be disqualified from the rally. Here is a warning for those of you underestimate the pull ups. Since you have to do the pull ups right after the racing, therefore it becomes harder, also, it wont be like normal pull up’s, you will need to get up and down on the call of examiner which is not easy at all. So, make sure you prepare well for pull ups.

Chest measurement

Once you will get through the pull up’s round, you will go for chest measurement. The chest eligibility criteria is given above, also, there should be at least 5 cm increase in the chest after expansion, else, you will be disqualified. Though, not many candidates are disqualified in this round, but if you do not fulfil the required criteria, then you will be disqualified for sure.

9 feet ditch

No marks are given for this round, you will just need to qualify this round. In this round the candidates will require to jump pass a 9 feet long ditch. This round will test your courage. Candidates are hardly disqualified in this round, but bad performance will surely throw you out of the rally.

Zig – zag balance

Again, no marks are assigned for this round, candidates just need to qualify it. In this round you will need to walk over a zig – zag balancing beam making it to the other end without falling. Same as 9 feet ditch, not many candidates are disqualified in this round too, but you never know, so be prepared.

Medical test

After you get through the PFT, then comes the medical round. In most cases, the medical round is conducted 1 or 2 days after the PFT, but many times the medical round takes place right after the PFT. So, candidates need to be prepared for the medical round as well.

If a candidate do not satisfy any of the medical criteria (mentioned above in this article), then he will be disqualified from the rally.

Common Entrance Exam (CEE) 

Reaching to the written exam stage is a big achievement in itself, but it does not mean that you are selected for the job. The last hurdle is common entrance exam (CEE). The written exam of nursing assistant is very crucial as the merit list is based on this.

People often asked that how important is it to score in written exam? well, if you want to see your name in the merit list then it is damn important to get maximum marks in written exam.

Revelation of merit List

If you do not have your name in merit list, then no matter how good you did in physical exam, or how fit or intelligent you are, it means just one thing that did not get the job. Basically, for nursing assistant it’s the written exam the matter the most, but a candidate should try to give his best in all the test.

Dispatch for training

One you have your name in merit list, then the only thing left do is training. 9 months of training, and you will be a full fledged Indian army soldier. But, be warned, these 9 months of training will be the hardest time of your life. So, be prepared in advanced. You will receive your joining latter within 20 days after merit list.
