CBSE Re-Evaluation Process 2024 And Improvement Form For Class 10th and 12th
Each year lakhs of students sit in board exams for class 10th and 12th, but not all get the desired result. There will always be a subject due to which your percentage will suffer, and this is where improvement exams kick in. With improvement, you will get another chance to write the exam for that particular subject again.
While on the other hand if you are confident that you wrote the right answers in the exam but were not awarded enough marks for them, and that valuation for your answers was not done correctly, then you have the option of revaluation for those answers.

CBSE Improvement Exam 2024 For Class 10th & 12th
As mentioned above, those who want to improve their marks can apply for the improvement exam. There are students who want to apply for improvement but due to the lack of proper information and exact procedure and details, they don’t apply.
To help such students, here in this article, we have tried to cover maximum queries and questions that students face while applying for the improvement of performance. You can navigate through the content by clicking on the buttons given below to get the desired information.

Here are some questions that students usually struggle with, when it comes to improvement exams.
Question:- When are the forms for improvement available?
— The process of form filling usually starts from the month of July every year (after the declaration of the board result).
Question:- When are the exams conducted?
— The exams are conducted along with the regular exams in the preceding year. The result will also be declared at the same time.
Note: Students who want to apply for improvement in just 1 subject can give the exam for that subject in the month of August (from 23rd August onwards). If the improvement is for more than 1 subject, then you will have to give the exams next year in the month of February.
Question:- In how many subjects can I apply for improvement?
— You can apply for all the subjects, but if you are failing in any subject, then you can not apply for it. Also, you can not apply for main subjects and additional subjects simultaneously, i.e you can not give an improvement exam for the main subject and optional subject in the same year.
Question:- I failed in one main subject, how can I improve my marks in that subject?
— First, you will have to give the compartment for that subject in the same year, and if you pass and still don’t score good marks, then you can apply for improvement for that subject.
Question:- Will I get a new mark sheet for improvement results?
— Yes, you will get a new mark sheet with “Appeared for improvement” written on it.
Question:- What if my performance is worst than my previous result?
— In case your result is lower than the previous result, then you can show your earlier result wherever required. But, if you do perform well in the improvement exam then you will have to carry both the mark sheets.
Question:- How many chances will I get for improvement?
— Only one chance is given to apply for CBSE improvement.
Question:- What is the time period of applying?
— One can apply in the preceding year, e.g if you passed in 2024, then you will need to give an improvement exam in 2024, else, you will not be eligible to apply.
Question:- When can I apply for the additional subject?
— The time period in which you can apply to improve your marks for the additional subject is 6 years. i.e within the 6 years of result deceleration, you can apply for improvement of the additional subject.
Question:- Can I fill the form of improvement while doing further studies?
— No, you cannot apply while pursuing further studies.
Question:- Do I have to give the practical exam again?
— No, if you pass the practical exam, then you will only have to appear for the theory exam. But, if you are failing in the practical exam, then you will have to give the practical exam as well as the theory exam regardless of the fact that you passed in theory. The marks for the practical exam will be the same if you passed in it.
Question:- Do I have to go to regular schooling again if I apply for improvement in all the main subjects?
— When you apply for improvement, then you are considered a private candidate. It’s totally on you if you want to go to regular schooling or not. But if you want to improve your marks in all the main subjects, then with the permission of the school, you can go to regular classes.
CBSE Improvement Application Form Procedure & Last Date
The application procedure is considered the most difficult part to apply for any exam or other government-related tasks. Therefore, to make it easy for students, we have given the complete procedure to apply for improvement exams.
Since the online mode of application has been introduced, therefore, it is not confirmed yet if the offline forms will be provided or not. But, if the offline forms are made available, then you can collect them from the syndicate banks or from your schools.
Here are the steps through which you can apply online:-
The application process for improvement has not started yet. We will update all the details here.
- Click on the link given below.
- In the first box, fill the last year’s roll no.
- In the second box, fill the 5-digit code of the school you are applying from.
- Enter the center code as per your previous admit card, and click on “proceed”.
- Now fill in the details asked in the form (that will appear) correctly.
- After filling and submitting the form, you will get your “application number” and “roll no.” on the confirmation page.
- You can take a printout of the confirmation page for future use.
- The fees can be paid via an online payment gateway or e-challan, or through a demand draft.
- When you completed the procedure, then send the photocopy of your mark sheet, passing certificate, confirmation page, and proof of fees to CBSE.

CBSE Improvement Exam Date Sheet For Class 12th & 10th
The date sheet for improvement exams and regular exams are the same. Therefore, students do not have to worry about the exam schedule.
We will update the date sheet as soon as it is released by CBSE.
How To Download CBSE Improvement Exam Admit Card/Hall Ticket
Unlike regular candidates, private candidates do not have the leverage of getting things done for them by the school. The regular students get admit cards from school, but for private candidates, the story is a bit different.
Luckily, private candidates can now download the admit card online. Follow the below-stated procedure to download.
- Click on the link/button given below.
- Click on the “admit card/intimation letter” button that you will see in the new tab.
- Now, choose the option using which you want to search for your admit card. Fill in the correct details, and then click on the “proceed” button.
- If entered the correct details, then your admit card will be displayed to you.

With these simple steps, anyone can get admit card online from the official CBSE website.
If due to any reason you are not getting your admit card, then you can contact the authorities of your exam center as they will issue you the duplicate admit card after you show them a valid ID or photocopy of the confirmation page of your application.

Improvement Result & Marksheet
The result for improvement exams is declared at the same time as regular exams i.e in the month of May. You can check your result online just like you did last year.
CBSE Re-evaluation/Rechecking Process Online 2021
This part of the article is for those students who are not satisfied with their marks and want their answer sheets to be checked again. All the important details about re-checking are given in this article.

There can be verification of two things only. First, the Roll Number and Name of the Student. Second, whether the marks on the mark-sheet are identical to that given in Students’ answer sheet or not.

Before proceeding, let me tell you what actually the revaluation or rechecking is. Actually, the process of re-evaluation is divided into three main steps. You can not directly challenge the board to recheck your answers. Just navigate the content through the button given below.
Note:- Students can only apply for re-checking for the theory of the following subject: English Core, English Elective, Functional English, Hindi Core, Hindi Elective, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Business Studies, Economics, and Accountancy.
# Verification of marks
For Class 12th marks verification, you can apply online till the 28th of July. For class 10th, the application date is the same. The fee is Rs. 500 per subject. Fees can be submitted via the online method (Credit/Debit Card/ Net Banking).
The very first step in the revaluation or rechecking is “verification of marks”. It is simply the process in which they see if you have got the correct marks or not. Following are the points that are checked in this step:-
- If all the answers that you wrote are evaluated or not.
- There is no mistake in totaling the marks.
- The correct total marks are represented on the title page.
- The supplementary answer sheet as mentioned in the main answer sheet by the student is intact or not.
Based on these points the marks of a student are added or reduced. No remarking will be done for an answer that has already been checked and assigned marks. If you are satisfied with the marks obtained after this process, then you do not have to go through the other two steps.
Points to remember
The application for verification of marks should be given within 4 days of result declaration (same goes for compartment and re-checking).
The student will have to pay Rs. 500 per subject as application fees for verification of marks.
The verified marks will be uploaded on the official website of CBSE. If a mistake is found, then they will send a formal letter.
Only after completing this step, you can apply for the next two steps.
How To Apply For Verification Of Marks
Following are the steps to apply online for verification of marks.
- Click on the below-given button.
- In the new tab that will open, click on the “Apply for verification..” button present at the top left corner.
- Fill out the form correctly and then submit it.
- Do note your application number while applying the form.
- The fees can be paid via payment gateway or e-challan.

Follow these simple steps to apply online for verification of marks. You can now apply for the photocopy of your mark sheet, if still not satisfied.
# Photocopy Of Evaluated Answer Sheet
To obtain a photocopy of evaluated answer sheets, apply online from 8th August to 9th August. Fees of Rs.500 per answer book have to be received through E-challan.
As mentioned above, if you are not satisfied with total marks you got after verification of marks, then you can challenge the CBSE board for a photocopy of the answer sheet. Following are the benefits of getting a photocopy of answer sheet:-
You can calculate the marks on your own, and make sure that the total marks given are correct. In case you find any mistake in the calculation of marks, or you find any answer unchecked, then you can contact your regional CBSE office to correct that mistake.
If you think that you have been awarded fewer marks for your answers, then you can challenge the board to re-checking your answer sheet.
You will get the photocopy easily on the net if applied for it.
Points to remember
Following are the main points that you should know before applying for the photocopy of the answer sheet:-
you will have to upload an undertaking in the prescribed format. The undertaking will have to be scanned and uploaded with the application.
Any details about the examiner/evaluators/any other official associated with the examination process will not be displayed on the answer sheet.
You will need to pay the fees of Rs. 500 per subject to apply for class 12th and Rs. 500 for class 10th.
Only the online mode of application will be accepted, and the fees should be paid through payment gateway (online mode) or by e-challan (No other mode will be accepted), along with duly scanned required documents.
You will not be allowed to display your answer sheet for any commercial or any other use.
How To Apply For Photocopy Of Answer Sheet
Applying for the photocopy of the answer sheet is simple, just follow these steps:-
- Click on the button below.
- In the new page, click on the option “apply for answer book” in the header (2nd from right).
- Again a new page will open, click on the “apply online..” option (1st from the top).
- Now fill in the required details carefully, and follow the instructions.
- After that, you will need to go to the “generate undertaking page” and follow the instruction accordingly.
- Then you will proceed to the “upload document” and upload the required documents.
- Next, you will have to pay the fees by going to the “fee payment” option.

As said earlier, if you are unsatisfied with the way your answers were checked, then you can apply for rechecking of your answers.
# Revaluation Of Answers
For class 12th the duration of applying online for revaluation is 13th August to 14th August, and the fee for re-evaluation is Rs. 100 per question.
The revaluation of answers is the final step in the re-evaluation process. If a student is not satisfied with any of the steps mentioned above i.e verification of marks, and photocopy of the answer sheet, then s/he can apply for the revaluation of some particular answers.
Points to remember
A student can apply for revaluation only for the subject mentioned above in this article.
A maximum of 10 questions can be challenged for rechecking, and each question will cost Rs. 100. So, pick the questions that you are sure about.
the applicant will have to refer to the marking scheme in the subject concerned (which will be available on the website), along with the question paper, and then submit the application for revaluation in the required question or questions with reasoning.
If the marks are increased in any question, then the fees will be refunded for that particular question. But, if the marks remain unchanged or decrease, then the fees will not be returned.
The change in marks (increase or decrease) will be mentioned in the new mark sheet. The status of revaluation will be uploaded on the official website of CBSE.
How To Apply Online For CBSE Revaluation/Rechecking
The process to apply for revaluation is the same as applying for a photocopy of the mark sheet. You will encounter the following steps:-
- Click on the button given below.
- This time, you will need to click on the “apply for reval” option.
- Now, Step by step, complete the procedure. First, click on the “apply online” button. and after filling in the details, proceed to the next step.
- Next, go to the “generate undertaking” option, and follow the instruction.
- “upload undertaking” is the next step.
- Finally, make the payment via the “fee payment” option. The fees can only be paid via online mode or e-challan.
- You can check the status of your application later whenever you want.

In case of a change in marks in any step, the new mark sheet will be given to the candidate only when s/he will surrender the previous mark sheet.

Improvement exam is to improve the marks of a subject, and it’s totally upto you that if you want to give them or not. Your school should give you the previous mark sheet. Only CBSE can give you the exact information, go to official website of CBSE and get the contact number and try contacting them.
My marks increased in two subjects after revaluation results out yesterday . Today I called local CBSE RO office to get revised Marksheet as I need it immediately to update it for DELHI university admissions by 31st August . A student passed 6 subjects(including additional too) and declared pass in 10th in 2019.
In 2020 He appeared for improvement in all 6 subjects but this time he only passed 5 subjects (including additional) but failed in science. Can he not apply for compartment in science ?

Don’t worry! you do not need to give compartment. If you marks in improvement are less than the actual one, then you can prefer not use the improvement mark sheet.

If you do pass in revaluation then you will not have to give compartment exam. But if you fail then you will need to appear for compartment exam.
In the re-evaluation process the teacher checks the whole paper again or only the questions applied for?
No, only those questions that you will mentioned will be checked again. You will need to pay Rs. 100 for each questions that will be re-evaluated, maximum 10 questions can be challenged to re-evaluate.

No, if you do not want go any further with re-checking then you do not need to do anything.
Sir, i have submitted my application for verification of marks, but, i want to add one more subject to it. So, is it possible to do so? and if not, then can i cancel my application and re-submit it?
As per the official notification issued by CBSE, a candidate can fill only one application at each step. So, there is nothing you can do now. Still if you want you can call CBSE office and inform them about your problem, maybe they may help you better. But, whatever you do, do it quickly because the last date is 21 for class 12th.
For applying online for re verification and re-totaling of marks, we have to provide the address and phone number. But which address and phone number to be provided for students from abroad. Foreign telephone numbers are not accepted
In re-evaluation if marks r decreased in a particular subject then which marks will be considered final.
The new mark sheet will be given only after the submission of old mark sheet by student. If there is change in mark sheet (even by 1 number), then student will have to surrender old mark sheet and get new one. Also, if after revaluation a student gets compartment, then s/he will have to apply for compartment.

Yes, there are chances of marks deduction but only in case of previous wrong marking. Otherwise, there are no chances at all. So, you don’t have fear in this case if you think that you should have scored more marks.

Hello Nishtha, It will take around one month for the complete procedure. First verification then photocopies of answer sheet and finally revaluation.

He got 16 marks that mean he got compartment. In this case, I’ll suggest to him to prepare for the compartment exam. Tell him, instead of getting depressed, prepare well for the compartment exam.

You can give the improvement in one subject or in all subjects. It’s up to you and remember, all you need to score more than 75%.

Sir. I took Bio and Maths both in class 12 and got compartment in maths. I cleared NEET and was selected for medical but when appeared in maths compartment again got failed. Regarding this matter I would like to suggest you that a main stream subject can not be switched with the additional subject ever. You cannot apply for any other subject. Don’t loose hope as you still have time to prepare for compartment exam which is going to held in March i.e next year. Just keep yourself focused and start studying with full dedication. Focus more on NCERT book and practice daily. Work hard and you will score good marks for sure.

Once you will log on to the official website of CBSE and click on the online application for answer copy, on the left hand side you will find an option generate undertaking page. When you will click on it you will have fill all the required information and and proceed. After that you just have to send the scan copy of that document.

As, you have mentioned that you have passed class 12th but you are not satisfied with your result then you can apply for improvement exam. Yes, you can apply for compartment exam in one or more subjects but cannot appear for additional subject simultaneously. For JEE, a candidate is required to take up improvement exam in all five (5) subjects. However, for general, candidates can appear in one or more than one subject (s) as per his/her choice. Also, the improvement exam can be taken only in the successive year of passing Class XIIth exam. You cannot take admission in any college until you have given your improvement exam and the result is declared.
