Assuming that you are already familiar with the paper pattern, here is a short description of the MTS exam paper pattern for those who do not know it yet.

  1. Just like all other competitive exams these days this exam will be computer-based too, meaning the questions will be the objective type where options are given for a question and the candidate needs to select the right answer.
  2. The exam is conducted in 2 parts or sessions. Candidates are required to take both sessions.
  3. The questions in the first session are based on math and logical reasoning.
    1. 20 questions for 60 marks – numerical and mathematical ability.
    2.  20 questions for 60 marks – logical reasoning.
    3. No negative marking.
    4. 3 marks for each question.
    5. total time – 45 marks (+ 15 minutes to candidates eligible as per official notification).
  4. The second session will comprise questions based on the English language and GK.
    1. 25 questions for 75 marks – English language & comprehension.
    2. 25 questions for 75 marks – General awareness or GK.
    3. Negative marking of 1 mark.
    4. 3 marks for each question.
    5. The timing is just like the above section.

If you are not fully aware of the paper pattern then it is recommended to first get a proper grip on the exam pattern because without it you will not be able to fully prepare for the exam.

The difficulty level of the MTS exam is not very high and maybe this is why a huge number of people apply for it. Despite this fact, the competition is always way too much for this exam. One can not afford to take it lightly as each and every mark counts when it comes down to getting selected.

Make sure to practice and study every day especially current affairs and GK topics, because this is one section that is totally unpredictable as you never know from where the question may come in the exam. Also, do not forget to stay in touch with math and logical reasoning. Finally, no need to worry if you are not good in English or Hindi because candidates can choose from 13 different regional languages to take the test.
