PET Exam Validity and Purpose

There is a lot of craze in public to secure a government job even when there is cut-throat competition for them. Every year lakhs of people apply for Group B’ and ‘C’ jobs, but due to the lack of vacancies, only a few would get shortlisted for the job.

So, to make the selection process a bit more convenient, UPSSSC introduced the PET exam. Now if someone wants to apply for group ‘B’ and ‘C’ posts, then they first need to get through this exam. There is another caveat, the validity of this exam is just 1 year.

If you passed the PET exam this year but failed the main exam, you will need to retake and pass the PET exam next year in order to apply for the main exam. This process looks more burdensome but since it is now the rule, therefore, applicants have to bear it.
