How to prepare 10th Maths

Math is a subject that needs a lot of effort and understanding if you want to score good marks in it. Following are some tips that will help you to deal with this subject in a better way.

Priority To Formulas

Maths is all about applying formulas and solving numerical, that is why you should write all the formulas in a separate notebook. Try to learn the formulas, cramp them if needed, but the formulas should be at your fingertips if you really want to score good marks in maths. So, keep formulas on top of your priority list.

Calculate Smartly

The better your calculating speed, the better your speed and ability to solve questions effectively. Students often use the calculator while solving complicated problems during practice, but it will do you no good. Being in the habit of using devices to calculate will reduce your skills.

So, be in the habit of solving even the most complicated calculation on your own, no matter how much time it takes. Also, try to learn new techniques and tricks of calculation that would make calculations easy for you.

Tidiness Is Important

Maths need a lot of rough work for calculation, and that is why students develop the habit of writing maths casually. This can prove to be very costly, a single mistake can lead the whole solution in the wrong direction. Therefore, it is very important to write things neatly.

Even when you are doing calculations, try to keep them as tidy as you can. In the exam, make sure that you do the rough work on a separate page, and write each and every step of your solution neatly.

The Four-Step Solution Theory

They say that half the problem is solved if you understand the question properly, and it is true indeed. To understand the question, the first thing that you have to do is read the questions with complete attention. Once you are done reading the question, then move on to the four-step solution theory.

The theory is simple, for any question in maths, there are four things that are must:- what is given, what is needed to find/prove, writing the formulas that will be needed to solve the question, and finally the solution.

Try this technique during practice, you will be able to solve questions more efficiently and faster.

NCERT First

Do not jump to refreshers if you have not completed the NCERT. Students often make the mistake of giving more time to reference books and avoid NCERT. You should know that Most of the questions in the exam are asked from NCERT, that is why it is very important to complete NCERT first.

Practice each and every question of this book, even the examples, and the miscellaneous exercises.

Making Notes

Maths may not be a theoretical subject, but making notes for this subject is a good idea. The question is what to make notes of? important points related to any chapter, important questions of that chapter, steps to solve the questions of that chapter, etc.

If you put some efforts to make a separate notebook to note above mentioned points, then it will prove to be very handy at the time of revision.

Timely Revision

Revision is the most important part of any successful study plan. Since maths involves lots of formulas and different question-solving technique, therefore, it becomes almost impossible to remember things. You will find it difficult to recall a question that you solved 1 or 2 weeks earlier, and it is totally normal.

That is why you need to do revisions from time to time. Give at least 1 day a week to revise everything that you have learned.

Test Yourself

The time limitation is something that a student has to deal with smartly. No matter if you can solve all the questions asked in the paper, it will be useless if you can’t solve them in the given amount of time. So, it is necessary to get used to the exam situation.

You can create it for yourself, just pick a sample paper or the previous year’s paper that you have downloaded from here, and set a time limit of 3 hours to solve it. Make sure no one disturbs you while doing this. Analyze how much time it’s taking you to solve the whole paper, see what questions are consuming your time, and how well can you manage your calculating speed.

Work on your weaknesses once you find them. If you really do this, then there is no stopping you from scoring good grades.

Best of luck with your exams! and post your questions via comment, we will try to respond as soon as possible.

    1. Hi Adarsh,
I know Math is difficult subject for many students, but it can be easy if you take interest in it. First you need to write all formulas separately and try to learn it because without formula you cannot solve questions, so first complete this formula part. Get good marks in Maths needs only practice. The more you do practice the more you will be accurate in maths and achieve good marks. Give more time to maths comparative to other subjects. Practice you all need to do. Good Luck!

  4. Sir I want to achieve above than 90% in board exam. I am in 10 standard. How much time I should give to each subject for study? SST is my week subject. How can I learn it. Please tell sir.

    1. Hi Harsh.
As, you have mentioned that you are 10th class and want to score 90% in your board exam so you will have to work really hard. First thing is to set a timetable and follow it strictly. Give equal time to every subject. You must give at least 1 hour to every subject. Be focused while studying. If you really want to achieve your aim then you have to be dedicated towards your studies. For subjects like SST in which you have to remember a lot of things the best way to study is by writing down important topics, historic events, date, national moments etc. While studying SST keep a notebook with you and note down important things. Next thing is revision. Yes! this is another point that you should not miss. Do regular revision. Keep on doing the hard work and you will score good marks for sure.
