And overview of SSC CPO: Staff Selection Commission-Central Police Force or SSC CPO is an annual recruitment examination held every year to get candidates for the different posts of Sub-Inspectors in Delhi Police, CAPFs-Central Armed Police Forces and Assistant Sub-Inspectors in CISF-Central Industrial Security Force. All these forces and the job in these concerns come directly under the Central Government.

  • Posts in SCC CPO: If one gets selected through the examination then they are eligible to be posted as the ‘Sub-Inspector of Delhi Police (for the purpose of maintaining law and order in Delhi) or CAPF or AI of CISF.  The CAPFs directly don’t come under the purview of the Indian Armed Forces but are controlled by the Home Ministry. Even the ‘Asst. Sub-Inspector” of CISF too makes up a part of the CAPF. The CAPF is made up with other forces such as CISF, ITBP, BSF, SSB and CRPF.
  • Educational Qualification: The candidates appearing the SSC CPO should have a Bachelor’s Degree from any recognized institution in India. For, male candidates appearing to secure a position in the Delhi Police apart from the educational qualification they too should hold a valid driving license for both car and motorcycle. This driving license should be there with them while the appearing for the standard and Physical Endurance Tests.
  • Age Limit & Relaxation: As per the Age Limit norms an aspiring candidate should be a minimum of 20 years and a maximum of 25 years. There are certain relaxations on age for people coming from the different parts of the country. Candidates who belong from the SC or ST category will be allowed a relaxation of 5 years and 3 years are provided for candidates falling under the OBC quota.
  • Mode of Examination: The SSC CPO Examination is conducted in four parts: Written, Physical Endurance, Medical examination and Personal Interview. For, qualifying the examination one has to make sure that they clear off all these individual rounds. Each individual has to clear the examinations to move on to the next one. The very first phase to be completed is the written test.
  • Written test: The written test department is divided into two parts the prelims and mains and commonly known as Paper I and Paper II. The questions in the written examination apart from the English will be asked both in English and Hindi.
  • SSC CPO Paper I: The paper I consist of 4 sections viz: Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness, English Comprehension and General Intelligence & Reasoning. The total marks in this paper make up to 200 with 50 marks allotted for each of the four sections. Each Multiple-Choice Questions have one mark, for every wrong answer a total of 0.25 marks is deducted from the same. For, this paper the candidate usually has a total of 1 hour to finish up the same.

  • SSC CPO Paper II: Paper II also makes up for a total of 200 marks. This particular paper is to test the candidate’s proficiency in English language as well as its comprehension skills. 2 hours time is allotted to the candidate to finish up this particular paper.
  • Physical Standard Test or Physical Endurance Test: Only after completing and clearing the phase of written examination one gets the opportunity to sit for this phase. Here, the candidate is judged based on their physical ability which is actually one of the most important criterions of selection. Both men and women have to go through certain standard physical tests as per the norms of the SSC CPO to determine whether they are eligible to carry on the physical activities. The eligibility criteria for Physical Endurance and Standard Tests for male and female are different and to qualify for this phase the candidates have to clear the respective necessities.
  • Personal Interview: Only after the individual clears the respective physical tests they have to appear for the personal interview where the panel will judge them on their intelligence and personality basis.
  • Medical Tests: The candidates who clear of all the other tiers will be then judged on the final phase where their medical ability will come in question. An individual with a good bodily condition and eyesight have higher chances of getting through this phase.
