UP Police Constable Salary Structure 2024

For someone to join UP Police, he/she has to go through 2 main exams (online written exam, and physical efficiency test). However, there are several other things involved like document verification, medical checkup, etc. But these two exams are considered the most difficult ones.

# Training period salary

Once all tests are successfully completed, the chosen individuals will be invited to partake in a six-month training program. During training, candidates are only given the basic salary, i.e., ₹21,700 (approx) per month, and 1 one-time training expense of up to ₹10,000 to cover their food, dress, and other basic necessities. No allowances are given during training.

After training, the candidates are entitled to receive a regular salary according to the salary structure dictated by the pay matrix of the 7th pay commission. However, the candidate will be considered permanent only after he/she clears the 2-year probation period.

# Regular Salary

Throughout the probationary period, candidates will be carefully evaluated in terms of their performance and other relevant factors. Any promotions or benefits that may be offered will be determined solely based on their performance during this period. Candidates will receive a regular salary throughout the probationary period.

By adding the regular allowances to the initial basic pay, the starting salary of a constable can go as high as ₹33000 (approx.). However, employees do not get this entire amount in their hands. The salary is given after a few deductions which are as follows:

UP Police Constable Promotion Opportunities

The promotion opportunities for a person joining UP police as a constable are not great as the highest rank a constable can achieve is inspector which is just 2 ranks up and that too after 25 years of service. But, this does not mean that there will not be an increment in the salary.

The salary of every government employee keeps on increasing from time to time. The maximum salary is decided according to the pay band in which the rank falls. e.g. the constable comes under the 2nd pay level, and pay band – 1 in the 7th pay commission matrix.

Assuming that a person does not get promoted to any other ranks after constable, but completes full-service tenure, then the highest basic pay he/she can draw is ₹69100. Let’s now take a look at the promotion ranks and the time needed to reach them.
