SSC CPO Eligibility(Age Limit, Physical) Paper Pattern: SSC CPO or Staff Selection Commission Central Police Organization is the examination held to select candidates from all over India for various police forces run and controlled by the Central Government. Every year the demand for such posts has been increasing and which in turn has enhanced the need of having an understanding of these examinations. So, here are some insights about the understanding of appearing for the examination.

SSC CPO Eligibility(Age Limit, Physical) Paper Pattern

There are a total of 7 posts that are to be filled with the SSC CPO Examinations.

  1. Sub-Inspector-Delhi Police: Delhi police maintain the Law and Order in and around Delhi.
  2. Sub-Inspector- BSF-Border Security Force: Border Security Forces are stationed in the borders in India and Pakistan and India and Bangladesh. The security personals can be transferred to all these borders, neighboring Pakistan and Bangladesh throughout their career.
  3. Sub-Inspector-CISF-Central Industrial Security Force: The task of the CISF is to maintain the security in various PSU’s around India and other important infrastructure in India.
  4. Sub-Inspector-CRPF-Central Reserve Police Force: The CRPF is used as a police force mainly to tackle riots and Naxal attacks internally within India. But from time to time this force is used to tackle other situations during elections and natural disasters.
  5. Sub-Inspector-ITBPF-Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force: The ITBPF personals are stationed in various Indo-Tibetan borders such as the borders that divide India from China.
  6. Sub-Inspector-SSB-Sashastra Seema Bal: SSB personals are stationed in Nepal and Bhutan Borders. So, the transfers largely stay around those border regions.
  7. Assistant Sub-Inspector, CISF(Central Industrial Security Force): Also positioned to take care of the security in various important infrastructure and PSU’s this is more of an executive job compared to that of the SI jobs of CISF.

After clearing the examination of the SSC CPO you will be either chosen as an ASI of CISF or SI in CAPF or Delhi Police. CAPF or Central Armed Police Force comes directly under the Home ministry and includes all the above posts. Once recruited in CAPF one can be transferred anywhere in India. But the SI’s of Delhi Police tend to stay in around Delhi for the rest of their career.

SSC CPO Eligibility(Age Limit, Physical)

The eligibility criteria of the candidates appearing for the SSC CPO examinations are:

  1. The candidates must be a citizen of India.
  2. Age criterion: The minimum age of the candidates should not be less than 20 and the maximum should not be more than 25 as on the date of filling up the form. The eligible age should be in accordance with the date of birth recorded in the respective, 10+, secondary, or any other equivalent examination certificate.
  3. Qualification: The candidates appearing for the SSC CPO examination should have a recognized graduate diploma/ degree/ or any certificate from any university on the coveted date. Even a technical education degree or diploma from a recognized university is accepted.
  4. Delhi Police requirement: Male candidates who want to get into the post of SI of Delhi Police should have a valid driving license, Motorcycle, or Car on the date that is decided for the physical or endurance tests, or else they won’t be liable to sit for the examinations.
  5. Age Relaxation: As per the reservation norms in Government Services there are certain relaxations that are provided for the various categories under the SCC CPO.
  6. SC and ST have an age relaxation of 5 and 3 years on the upper age limit, respectively.
  7. Ex-Servicemen have a relaxation of 3 years after the subtracting from the military service provided from the original date as on the finishing date.

SSC CPO Exam Pattern: Paper 1 and Paper 2 

The examination for the SSC CPO is divided into four parts, Paper I (Prelims), Physical Endurance Test. Paper-II (Mains) and Medical Examination. Paper 1 and Paper 2 are multiple choices based questions. You can Prepare for SSC CPO in One Month.

Paper-I and Paper-II:

  • Paper I or Prelims is a 200 marks examination with multiple-choice questions that consists of 50 questions of 1 mark each. The papers in the prelims are made up of English, Quantitative Aptitude, General Reasoning, and General Awareness.
  • Paper-II or Mains will be of 200 marks and will consist of Multiple Choices on English Language and Comprehension. For, each wrong answer a total of 0f 0.25 will be given as negative marks.
  • The candidate will have a total of 2 hours each to finish up both Paper-I and Paper-II. All papers apart from English are available in both Hindi and English as per the choice of the candidates.

Physical Endurance Test or Physical Standard Test (PET or PST) Examination:

  • Both males and females have to go through the Physical Endurance Test to qualify for the examination and move to the Medical Examination part.
  • Ex-servicemen are not needed to appear for the PET and Female candidates who are pregnant will be rejected for the PET or PST.

Physical Standard Test:

  • Male candidates who belong to the general category should have a height measurement of 5 feet 7 inches that measures up to 170cms and the chest size in normal should be 80cms and in expansion should be 85cms.
  • Male candidates who belong from the category of hills should have a height measurement of 5 feet 5 inches that measures up to 165cms and the chest size in normal should be 80cms and in expansion should be 85cms.
  • Male candidates who belong from the category of the scheduled tribe should have a height measurement of 5 feet 4 inches that measures up to 162.5cms and the chest size in normal should be 77cms and in expansion should be 82cms.
  • Female candidates who belong from the category of the general should have a height measurement of 5 feet 2 inches that measure up to 157cms.
  • Female candidates who belong to the category of hills should have a height measurement of 5 feet 1 inch that measure up to 155cms.
  • Female candidates who belong to the category of the scheduled tribe should have a height measurement of 5 feet that measure up to 154cms.
  • Female candidates do not have any chest measurement criteria.

The hilly areas include Garhwal, Himachal Pradesh, Kumaon, Gorkhas, Marathas, Kashmir Valley, Dogras, Sikkim, Leh and Ladakh, and North-Eastern regions.

Physical Endurance Test for SSC CPO:

Male Candidates Female Candidates
Have to complete 100mts race in 16 seconds. Have to complete 100mts race in 18 seconds
Have to complete 1.6kms race in 6.5 minutes. Have to complete 800mts race in 4 minutes
Have to complete a Long Jump of 3.65 mts in 5 chances. Have to complete a Long Jump of 2.7 mts or 9 feet in 3 chances.
Have to complete High Jump in 1.2 mts in 3 chances. Have to complete a High Jump of 0.9mts or 3 feet in 3 chances.

SSC CPO Medical Test: Eyesight, Height and 

  • Candidates who clear all the above examinations will be selected for the medical tests. The candidates have to fulfill all the standards as per norms to complete the medical test.
  • Without Glasses or any correction, candidates should have a distant vision of 6/6 and 6/9 on both the eyes.
  • The candidates should not possess varicose veins, Knock knee, Squint in the eyes, and a flat foot.
  • A high color vision of the candidates is important.
  • Both the physical and mental condition of the candidates should be good.
  • Any other physical defect in the candidate will be subject to rejection in the medical test.
