The staff selection commission has released the notification for the SSC CGL exam 2022. The Combined Graduation Level exam which is commonly known as CGL exam is all set to be conducted by the commission in the month of August. Last year the commission announced the change in the SSC CGL exam pattern, and is following that pattern this year also. The exam is to be conducted in 4 tiers.

The SSC CGL exam gives number of opportunities to aspirants, as there are so many vacancies in different ministries that are filled through this exam. This surely is a chance that nobody want to miss.

Application Procedure Related FAQs

Q. What is the minimum qualification required to apply for SSC CGL exam?

You are only eligible to apply for SSC CGL exam if you have completed your graduations.  Although there are few posts of SSC CGL in which additional qualification is required, following are the name of such post and important details about them.

#Assistant Audit Officer 

Essential qualification: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute.

Preferred qualifications: Chartered Accountant, or Cost & Management Accountant, or Company Secretary, or Masters in Commerce, or Masters in Business Economics.

#Statistical Investigator Grade – II:

Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University or Institute, and at least 60% in Mathematics in 12th standard. Or, Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.

#Compiler:

Bachelor’s Degree from any recognized University with Economics/Statistics/Mathematics as a compulsory or Elective subject.

Q. What is the age limit for SSC CGL examination?

The age limit vary from post to post. Generally the age limit is from 18 to 27 years.

Q. Can a candidate apply for more then one post?

Yes, you can apply for more then one post. But make sure you fulfill all the eligibility criteria before you apply for any post.

Q. Is it necessary to choose all the groups of posts in the application form?

No, it is not necessary, but ideally you should choose all the groups according to your preference. Earlier, you were able to select the desirable post in the application form, but from 2017 onward the commission have changed the procedure. Now you have to select the group, and later on after you qualify the Tier III exam, you can choose the individual post.

Q. Where can I check my application status from?

You can check your application status using the link provided on the main page.Your application process will be considered complete if Application Status becomes Completed.

Q. Is there age relaxation given for SSC CGL examination?

Yes, there is age relaxation of 3, 5, 10, 13 and 15 years given to OBC, SC/ST, Physically Handicapped (PH), PH+OBC and PH+SC/ST respectively.

Q. Which date of birth(DOB) is considered valid for SSC CGL exam?

The date of birth that is recorded in your  Matriculation/Secondary Examination Certificate or an equivalent certificate available on the date of submission of application will be accepted as proof of date of birth.

Q. My online payment was unsuccessful. Can I generate offline challan to pay the fee?

Yes you can. Go to ‘Apply/Print’ option, enter your details, and you will be directed to fee section. Then choose the appropriate mode of payment and proceed.

Q. Can last year/semester student also apply for SSC CGL exam?

Yes, If your final result/marksheet is declared before exam then you are eligible.

Q. Is the application form also available in offline mode?

No, one can only apply through online mode. Offline mode is not available to apply for SSC CGL.

Q. Is aadhar Card mandatory to fill SSC CGL 2022 Exam?

No, it is not mandatory to possess Aadhar Card to register for SSC CGL 2022  Exam.

Q. Can I pay the application fee offline and how much is SSC CGL application Fee?

Yes, you can submit the application fee offline. First, you have to generate challan online, and then visit a nearby bank to submit your fee. The fee is Rs.100 (Fee once paid is not refunded under any circumstance).

Selection Procedure Related FAQs

Q. Is Tier I round only qualifying in nature?

No, the marks obtained by you in the Tier I examination will be included in the further selection process. So, one should try to score maximum marks, so as to increase his/her chances in making it to merit list.

Q. Will there be interview for any post in SSC CGL exam?

No, the commission has ruled out the interview procedure from 2022 onwards.

Q. I use -5D spectacles, will it create any problem during selection for income tax inspector or for any other post?

No, no problem at all. Your vision should be 6/6 using glasses.

Q. How long does it take to nominate candidates after declaration of the final results of an examination?

It generally takes about 30-40 days to process the dossiers of successful candidates. Thereafter, the candidates are nominated to the respective departments/ministries to which they have been allocated.

Q. Is there any percentage criteria set by the commission for SSC CGL exam?

No, there is no minimum percentage criteria to apply for SSC CGL examination.

Q. How the final merit list is prepared?

Final Merit is prepared on the basis of marks obtained in all the three tiers, and candidate are required to pass each of the three tiers separately to be called for CPT and document verification.

Q. Are there any physical standards/physical tests for certain posts?

There are particular physical standards and physical tests for both men and women for the posts of Inspector (Central Excise/Examiner/Preventive Officer/Inspector & Sub-Inspector in CBN)

Q. Is there any changes in the syllabus for SSC CGL 2022?

Ans 1. No, there is no change in the syllabus. Just like last year the first two tier will be online while Tier III will be offline descriptive test.

Q. Are there any changes in the exam pattern?

Yes, the time limit of Tier I examination has been reduced from 75 min to 60 min.

Q. What are the post that require CPT and DEST exam?

Only the post of Tax Assistants (Central Excise & Income Tax) require knowledge about data entry. And  Computer Proficiency Test is necessary for the posts of Assistant Section Officer (CSS), Assistant Section Officer (MEA) andAssistant in Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) under M/o Corporate Affairs, Assistant (GSI) in M/o Mines.

Q. Does SSC CGL exam have sectional cut­offs like in IBPS and RBI exams

There is no Sectional cut Offs.

Q. Is it mandatory to appear for Paper 3 and Paper 4 in SSC CGL Exam, if I have applied for them?

No, It is optional and totally upto you if you want to give the remaining two exams.

Q.  If I fail or remain absent in Paper 3 and Paper 4 in SSC CGL Exam, will it affect my candidature?

Well, if you do not give or are unable to pass paper 3 or 4, then you will still be considered for all other posts (that do not need paper 3 and 4).

Q. What to do when dates of interview/PET clash with another exam or interview?

No change is ordinarily permissible. However, if the interviews/PET are being held at the specified venue for more than one day, the request may be considered if made at least ten days in advance with supporting documents.

Q. Does CGL exam have negative marking?

Yes, in Tier I there is 0.5 marks of negative marking. While in Tier II, for all the Papers except English there is penalty of 0.50 marks for every wrong answer. For English penalty is 0.25 marks.

Vacancies And Preferred Post Related FAQs

Q. How many vacancies are there in CGL 2022?

SSC never announces the vacancies at the time of Notification. In 2022 CGL Exam, it is expected that vacancies may touch around 4733.

Q. What are the salaries associated with different posts?

Different posts have different salaries based upon the pay band and grade pay they belong to. All the posts which can be applied to by SSC CGL examinations are either from the Pay Band 9300-34800 or Pay Band 5200-20200. Your salary also depends on what level you are in the government department.

Q. Is there any addition of new posts in CGL 2022 exam ?

Every years, SSC introduces some new posts . This years , SSC had introduced 3 New Posts in CGL 2022 Exam. These posts are Assistant Accounts Officer, Assistants in Serious Fraud Investigation Office, and Assistants in Other Departments/Ministries.

Q. Is there any Post of SSC CGL which is considered as state service?

No, All the posts carry All India Service Liability (AISL) i.e. the candidate, after Selection may be asked to serve anywhere in the country.

Q. Can I get a job at my preferred location after getting selected for SSC?

It is possible for candidates to get the preferred location if they have sufficient marks. However, it also depends upon whether the desired location has the post you prefer.

SSC CGL General FAQs

Q. I filled up the form of SSC CGL once, but I want to make some changes. Can I apply again? I have made some mistake in typing date of birth, graduation marks. Can I apply again?

In the case of multiple applications for online application form, the last application for which part-I and part-II registration have been completed will be accepted. SSC will send you the admit card according to this second application.

Q. What is the time required for preparing for SSC Exams?

If you are serious about study and ready to dedicate 5 to 6 hours daily for study, then normally you may prepare the syllabus within 3 to 4 months.

Q. How many times can you attempt SSC CGL examination?

There is no limit as to how many times you can attempt the SSC CGL examination. As long as you fulfill the eligibility criteria (age limit and educational qualifications), you can apply as many times as you want.

Q. What to do when admission certificate for exam is not received?

If the candidates do not receive the admission certificate in time, they should access the notice Board of this website for information regarding issue of duplicate admission certificate.

Q. How to get OBC Creamy Layer benefits?

If you want the benifits of OBC reservation, then you must have the caste and creamy layer certificate. The format of these certificates should be as per SSC guidelines. You can get the certificates from your Tehsildar’s office/Collector Office/Jan-Seva Kendra.

It depends on the income of your parents that will you get the benefits of creamy layer or not. It doo not depend on your income (like your job/business income). if any of your parent is in government job, then income criteria don’t apply.

e.g. if your father is a class 3 employee, then no matter if he gets 6 lakhs or 7 lakhs, you will still be counted as non cream layer. If your parents have a private business, then income criterion applies.

    1. There is no limit for extra sheets. you can ask for as many as you want.

  3. Hello Sir/Mam,
    I am a 26 years old female working in a MNC. I suffered from cancer in year 2015. Underwent whole treatment (including surgery), and returned to work in 2016. I am completely fit and fine now. But I have this medical history. Will I be eligible for SSC CGL 2019 as per their medical norms ?

    1. Hello Riya, There is no issue whether you have the medical history or not. But If the post to which you applying has any medical examination then they will conduct their medical exam accordingly but even then there will be no issue. Don’t worry about it. All the best!!!

      To be eligible to apply for SSC CGL, one need to ave graduation degree. And since you are just 12th appearing, therefore you are not eligible to apply.

  6. What is the job structure of assistant in mea and typing is required for it?

      The typing speed should be 2000 key depression in 15 minutes. Please clarify what do you mean by “job structure”, is it the promotion sequence you are asking about, or salary structure or something else.       As, you have mentioned that you have passed your 12th and look forward to join Indian army so, before you apply for any post in army you must fulfill the eligibility criteria of that post. As per your education qualification you can apply for tradesman post or clerk if you have 10+2 / Intermediate Examination Pass in any stream (Arts, Commerce, Science). Should have secured 50% marks in each subject and 60% in aggregate in Class XII. Should have studied English and Maths / Accounts / Book Keeping in Class XII or Class X. Should have secured min 50% marks in each of these subject, whether in Class XII or Class X.
