  22. Hi mam. My name is Mahendra and I’m in 12th class. What should I do to join NDA? what type of questions are asked during interview? Please let me know.

    1. Hi Mahendra.
As, you have mentioned that you are 12th class so, gathering all information regarding NDA is quite important as it is golden opportunity for 12th appearing and 12th pass out students who wants to join Indian armed forces. This exam is conducted by UPSC twice a year only for students who aspires become an officer in army, Navy and Air Force. If you are interested in joining NDA then first of all make sure you fit in the age limit criteria which is 16 and half to 19 and half years. Next thing is you will have apply online for this exam. This year’s NDA II paper was conducted on 10th of this month so if you haven’t given that exam then you will only get your chance next year. You can prepare for NDA 2018 exam. You have to be dedicated and hard working if you dream to join NDA. Interview questions are mostly based on your experience of 5 days SSB and what you have learned in these days. For more information on NDA interview just search for ‘Top 13 Traditional Questions Asked In NDA Interview’ in the search box of our website.

  23. Hello sir. I’m Prabhakar. How can I check NDA marks and rank?

    1. Hi Prabhakar.
You cannot check NDA marks. UPSC only releases the list of candidates who are eligible for SSB Interview, not the marks or ranks. The aspirants who are short-listed for the interview get a call letter from the SSB centre on their e-mail regarding all the details of SSB. Even after SSB, candidates are not informed anything regarding their marks, they just say whether you are recommended or not. If you are you proceed for medical examination.

  24. Hi. I am from Mysore and my son is interested in joining NDA. I would like to know if a Karnataka state board student can apply and manage to clear the NDA Exams. How tough would it be for state board candidate to cope up with CBSE curriculum in NDA? Please advise.
    Thanks and regards.

    1. Hi Raghu.
First of all it is really impressive to hear that your son look forward to join armed forces through NDA exam. Any state board or central board student can give NATIONAL DEFENSE ACADEMY (NDA) exam. Only condition is that your age is in between 16.5–19.5 years, and a student is either studying in class 12th or completed the senior secondary exam. It might be a little difficult for him to manage CBSE curriculum but if he is really dedicated then he can crack the exam for sure. He will have to go thorough NCERT books so that he will have the idea of the types of questions that are asked in the exam. The basic concepts of Maths, Physics will be same, all he need to do is practice a lot. If he’s really interested in NDA exam then we would recommend you to support him. Tell him to be focused on his dream and start doing hard work.

  25. Oinam Aristopher Meitei

Sir my name is Oinam Aristopher Meitei. Recently I have completed 10+2 exam with science stream and I have score 52% marks but I failed in maths subject. It was my forth subject. So, can I apply for NDA written exam?

    1. Hi Oinam.
As, you have mentioned that you have failed in one subject so, until you have cleared the compartment exam you will be considered fail in 12th class. Only when you will pass the compartment exam you can apply for NDA exam. Because only 12th appearing or 12th pass out students can apply for NDA exam.

  26. Hello sir. I am in class 12th (commerce) at present. So, am I eligible for NDA exam?

    1. Hi Saurabh.
Yes, both 12th appearing and 12th pass out students can apply for NDA exam. But make sure you fit in the age limit criteria which is 16 and half to 19 and half years.

  27. Hello ma’am.
Myself Vaibhav and I am 17 years old. Recently I filled up the TES form and I also got the call letter on 16 July 2017. I scored 93% marks in PCM and the cut off is set for TES is 85%. But I am not able to understand how can I start preparing for my SSB interview. I am not taking any coaching for it. Shall I take or not? What is the level of English required in SSB. Please provide me some tips so that I will start preparing accordingly.

    1. Hi Vaibhav.
First of all congratulation on getting selected for the SSB directly. Now, what you need to do is first gather all the information regarding the SSB. The SSB will last for 5 days. The benchmarks on which the candidates are assessed include intelligence, personality, compatibility and potential. Hence, mental preparation holds prominence over physical preparation, although physical fitness will be an added advantage. SSB pattern is same for nearly for all defence exam like NDA, TES, UES. For detail information on SSB search for ‘Success Mantras to Crack NDA SSB – 5 Days Strategy’ in the search box of our website. During SSB maintain a confident and positive frame of mind and believe in your capabilities. Read interviews of those candidates who have cleared the SSB, it will help you a lot for sure. Don’t worry about the level of English. Yes, during the interview which will be the last stage of SSB you will have to answer in English but remember it’s not about how good is your English but how dedicated you are towards joining Indian army. This is the golden opportunity for you so give your best shot.

  28. Dear ma’am, what is the minimum % required in 12th class to directly get selected for the SSB.

    1. Hi Ankit.
There is no such criteria. To join NDA you will have to clear the written exam and then qualify the SSB. The one entry, which I think you are talking about (direct entry after 12th) is known as TES or technical entry scheme. Its only for Science students who had Maths as a subject in 12th std. You need minimum 70% in PCM aggregate to apply. The cutoff is decided by army, and it can go as high as 85%
If you make the cut, you will be directed called for SSB interview. And the rest of the procedure here onward remain same. So in this entry you don’t have to crack the written.

Sorry to say but you are not eligible for this exam. But don’t loose hope. If you really want to join Indian army then pursue graduation and after completing graduation you can apply for CDS exam. This exam is conducted by UPSC twice a year only for graduates who wants to join Indian army, Navy and Air Force as officers.

  30. Indrajeet Rajeshirke

Hello sir. Is there any selection in Army, Navy or Air force on the basis of JEE mains marks?

    1. Prof. Divyanshi Sharma

      Hi Inderjeet.
In Indian army or Air force no such selection procedure has been implemented. But those candidates aspiring to join Indian Navy through 10+2 B Tech Cadet Entry Scheme will now be shortlisted to join the force based on JEE Main scores instead of Class XII marks. Now, the marks obtained in the PCM in your 12th board exams will be invalid for this scheme and JEE Marks For B Tech Entry scheme will be considered for shortlisting the applicants.

  35. Priyakanta samal

    Hi Mam.
SSB interview mai kya hum Hindi bol sakte hain?

    1. Prof. Divyanshi Sharma

      Hi Priyakanta.
In the SSB interview it is important that you don’t imitate anyone. Just be yourself. You have to speak in English there but if you find yourself stuck at something you can speak in Hindi but you probably have to come back to English again. There is nothing to worry about because they are not checking your fluency in English but more about your experiences and what you have learned in the 5 days of SSB.

  43. Sir what us meant by
vision 6/6 in a better eye and 6/9 in worse eye.

    1. Prof. Divyanshi Sharma

      Hi Swaraj.
These are the numbers use to measure the visual acuity i.e how clear and accurate your vision is. It is a standard test in which you have read the eye chart from a certain distance. The first number is the distance you are standing from the chart and the second number is how well you can read the letters written in the eye chart as compare to the normal person. When you are standing at the distance of 6 meters from the eye chart and are able to read every letter as well as a normal person would read from 6 meters away you score 6/6 vision, that means you have normal vision. But when you are standing at 6 meters away from the chart but read like a normal person who would be standing at 9 meters distance than you have 6/9 vision. Having 6/9 vision means that what a normal person can see from 9 meters you find difficulty in it and can only see it from 6 meters away.
