CBSE has announced the date of registration for the JEE Main Exam starting from 16th December 2021 to 16th January 2021. The JEE Main has come with a lot of expectations for aspirants who were waiting to get admission in an undergraduate program offered by IITs, IIITs, NITs, and other centrally funded technical institutions (CFTIs) across India.

JEE Main 2023 – Exam Syllabus

The exam syllabus will give you a track to follow in your preparation. Without proper knowledge of the exam syllabus, one cannot achieve one’s goal. Topics covered under JEE Main exam are mostly covered by the CBSE, ISCE, and some other state boards. So the best books to prepare for an exam is syllabus books provided by the respective Boards.

JEE Main is conducting two papers for different courses i.e. Paper I (B.E./B.Tech) and Paper-II (B.Arch/B.Planning).

The exam syllabus of JEE Main comprises topics from PCM i.e. (physics, chemistry & mathematics) and architectural related subjects like analytics and drawing ability.

Paper I Exam Syllabus

Exam syllabus of Paper I will cover three subjects i.e. Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics. Candidates must take these three subjects as their first priority because each subject carries an equal quantity of questions and marks. Paper-II Exam Syllabus

Candidates who have also opted for Paper-II must know the details about subjects and topics which are going to be asked in the exam. The syllabus of Paper II is divided into three parts i.e. Mathematics, Analytical, and Drawing Test. The exam comes in both objective and subjective type. The syllabus for Mathematics is the same for both papers (I & II).

The syllabus for the Aptitude test includes topics from the objects and textures related to architecture and build environment. They should have awareness of persons, places and buildings, etc. Topics under 3-D perception i.e. understanding and appreciation of scale and proportion of objects, building forms and elements, harmony, and color texture. Transformation of 2 D and 3 D union, subtraction, rotation, and development of surfaces and volumes.

There will definitely be questions asked from sketching of scenes and activities from urban life related to public space, market, festivals, monuments, gardens, parks, street scenes, and rural life.

Note: Candidates must bring their pencils, geometry box, color pencils, crayons, erasers, etc. for their Paper-II test.

JEE Main 2023 – Paper Pattern

Paper pattern of any exam plays a significant role in performing better at exams. It is the second most important thing after the exam syllabus. It provides the blueprint and gives an idea of how to attempt the questions in the exam.

Candidates, who are interested in the engineering field should opt for Paper I, and those who are interested in the architecture field should opt for Paper-II and those who are interested in both can opt for both the paper i.e. Paper I & II.

The structure of the JEE Main paper pattern gives the detail of the duration of the paper, mode of paper, type of questions from each subject, total marks. Let’s proceed towards the full details of both the papers.

Paper I Exam Pattern (B.E./B.Tech)

Candidates who want to do B.E./B.Tech undergraduate courses, must apply for Paper I. Here is the overview of the Paper I exam pattern:

# Mode of examination
Candidates appearing for Paper-I can give an exam in two modes i.e. pen and paper-based examination (offline) and computer-based examination (online). Applicants can choose any one mode of examination either online or offline, as per their convenience.

# Examination Date
The Board has issued the examination date for both modes i.e. Feb 2021 to May 2021
. Candidates who are appearing for the computer-based exams can select their examination day (exam slots) as per their schedule. There is no choice for a pen and paper mode exam.

# Subjects & Paper Pattern
The question paper will contain three subjects namely – Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. The paper will be of objective/multiple choice based exam. There is a total of 90 questions from all subjects/sections with a total of 300 marks. The total duration for the Paper I exam is 3 hours i.e. 180 minutes and an extension of one hour i.e. 4 hours for disabled person (PwD), will be provided.

# Exam Timings
The timings of pen and paper mode and the computer-based exam, it is divided into two shifts:

1st shift starts from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm.

2nd shift starts from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

# Marking Scheme
marking scheme includes some important points:

  • 4 marks will be awarded for each correct answer.
  • 1 mark deduction for each wrong answer.
  • No negative marking for unattempted questions.

# Medium of Exam
Candidates have two choices for language i.e. English and Hindi, but one more language choice i.e. Gujrati is there for candidates who filled their exam center in Gujarat, Daman & Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. It means they have three language choices for examination – English, Hindi, and Gujrati.

Note: Language choice can be filled in while filling the application form. There will be no changes later.

Paper-II Exam Pattern (B.Arch)

Paper-II is for those who want to pursue a career in the architectural field. Only one mode of examination will be provided for students i.e. pen and paper mode (offline). Below is the table of paper II exam pattern:

# Subjects & Paper Pattern
Paper-II consists of three subjects/parts named: Mathematics, Aptitude, and Drawing Test
. Part I and II will be based on multiple-choice questions (MCQ) and Part-III will be based on a drawing test. Candidates can use pencil, scale, colors, etc for this section.

The paper-II exam is a total of 400 marks and 82 questions with 3 hours of duration. An extra 1 hour will be provided for students who belong to the PwD category with 40% disability.

# Marking Scheme
marking scheme for Part I, II and III is as follows:

  • In part I & II, 4 marks will be awarded for each correct answer, and 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • There will be no negative marking for questions that are not answered by the candidate.
  • In part III (drawing test), marks will be allotted on the basis of the candidate’s drawing skills.

# Exam Timings
The timings of the exam start from 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm.

There are 3 language choices for JEE Main exam i.e. Hindi, English, and Gujarati. # Subjects & Paper Pattern
For JEE Main Paper – III (B.Plan) Syllabus, the questions will be from various topics from Aptitude, Mathematics and Planning based questions.

For Part-II (B.Plan): Understanding and appreciation of scale and proportion of objects, Transformation of forms both 2 D and 3 D union, building forms and elements, color texture, harmony and contrast, subtraction, Creating two dimensional and three-dimensional compositions using given shapes and forms, rotation, etc.
