ICSE Class X Previous Year Papers – Subjectwise

It’s such a headache having everyone around suggesting the same formula for high grades i.e. practice. Our parents or teachers or seniors, everyone advises us to practice but, there is no one to answer how and what? I mean, there is no one to tell that what is ideal to practice and how to practice.

Just go through the previous year’s papers, and you will see that scoring marks would be easy after this.

So, here is the first one coming your way:-

English

English can prove to be a blessing for you when it comes to percentage. Therefore, you should give this subject special attention, as your percentage can boost significantly.

There are two papers in English, one in Literature and the other one is Grammar. Both the papers are equally important and have the same distribution of Marks. So, you guys have to put the same kind of effort into both the papers.

Tips To Score 90+ In English

If you find English a hard and boring subject then, sadly I have to say that it is a little bit difficult to overcome the exams with high marks. First, start loving the subject, and then you will see that things will start getting easy.

For the Literature part, the textbook is best to study from. Attend the lectures English in class and half of the preparation will be done. First, go through all the chapters from the textbook and then move toward the help books and other papers.

If you are answering some long question of the literature part, then answer it in points instead of writing it as a big paragraph. This will express your thoughts in a much better way.

Hindi

2013 ICSE Hindi previous year paper 2013
2012 ICSE Hindi previous year paper 2012

Generally, students avoid Hindi till the last moment, thinking that it is an easy subject and they can prepare it just one day before the final exam.

Hindi indeed is an easy subject, and you may even score 60+ and 70+ without breaking a sweat. But you can not score 80+ and 90+ if you are not giving time to this subject. And this can be a negative point for your overall percentage.

So, given at least some time to prepare Hindi. Below are some tips that will help you in Hindi.

Get Maximum Out of Hindi

While writing an essay, letter, articles, and other write-ups, just make sure that you keep the formatting right, because half of the marks are for formatting, and try to write creatively. Examiner will not read the boring stuff, just make it interesting but it must be to the point.

The unseen passage is the easiest part, so don’t leave it at any cost. Read it carefully and then answer the questions properly. You can easily get 10 marks in the unseen passage.

Mathematics is practice and nothing else. Who said this? Actually, this is just one-half of the fact, let me tell you the full. The practice is not enough until you know the correct way, the right direction is important.

By the way, the more you practice, the more you will get familiar with the methods, but do it correctly. Previous Year papers will provide you the direction.

Solving Maths – Toppers way

Take care of the formulas and theorems, they are very crucial in solving the problems. So, learn them carefully and it will be easier for you to solve the questions.

Just attempt those questions first which you are more confident about. Tie up your priorities and it will save your time as well.

Once you solve all the questions that you know well, then go for the questions that you are not so sure about. If you got time, then attempt as many questions as you can.

Just like Hindi and English, history is also a very scoring subject, but only for those who think of it as an interesting subject. For those who do not find history interesting, history is no less than a headache.

You can still score good marks in history if you follow the below-mentioned tips.

History – The Way It Should Be

History is not that tough subject as you think it is. Learning dates and time periods are a headache but there is a solution for it. Take a chart and note down all the dates on it, stick it on the wall of your study room, and read it daily. Don’t try to learn, just read it, and you will feel the improvement within a week.

If you find history boring then, give yourself time to time breaks while studying it, e.g you can study for at least 1 hour and then take a break of 5 to 10 minutes break. Do things that you enjoy the most in your break time, but make sure you do not overdo the breaks.

Civics

Civics is all about the constitution, amendments, rights, etc. And no wonder why most of the students find it boring, but like I said before, if you decide to take interest then there is nothing that can bore you.

Use the tips given below to score marks in civics.

Civics – How Toppers do It, Secret Revealed

Generally, the students stay focused on some of their favorite chapters and leave the others, but this is a weak strategy if you are planning to score good marks in the Exam. Try to cover all the topics if you have time.

Class lectures are such a boon for this subject, attend the lectures, and make notes. At the time of the revision, apart from the previous year’s papers, these notes will also help you.

There are many who like geography, and then there are those who do not like this subject at all. I don’t know in which category you come in, but I do know that Geography is on your subject list. No matter if you like it or not, but you have to go through this subject.

So, stop whining and start preparing for this subject. Follow the given tips, and things can get easier for you.

Practicing Geography Effectively

The best way to remember things is to relate them with something interesting and easy i.e things that you can recoil easily. This is hard to do initially, but once you develop this method, then everything will look easy.

Drawing maps and diagrams is an important part of Geography. So, be in the habit of drawing maps and other diagrams. In the exam make sure that you keep your work neat and clean, and draw appropriate diagrams wherever necessary.

Derivations, Equations, numerical, theory, there is so much which can bring you good marks. And on the other hand, the same can deduce your marks. It’s all about your preparation strategy. Take care of it, and you will definitely score well.

Tips For Physics

Just remember, while answering the numerical part, keep your mind focused. Sometimes, a minor mistake can cost a lot as the whole question can go wrong. So, whenever you are attempting a numerical, stay very focused. And keep your calculations neat and clean, because sometimes the untidy work is the reason for wrong answers.

The best way to study physics is, understanding things on your own. Students often try to mug up the definitions written in books and notebooks. Understanding the words of others is hard. So, try to make notes in your own words. But make sure you do not change the meaning of the definitions.

You can organize a group study with your friends for a change. Discuss your problems and solve them together, But make sure you do not waste too much time on giggles and gossips.

Biology – Not So Hard

Previous year papers, sample papers, model paper, whatever you get, just practice the answers by writing them. Things will get more clear by writing it over and over again.

The best way to learn hard terms is, breaking them down into small terms. Learning while writing is an orthodox way to learn things, but it is very effective. So, try to write and then learn.

  32. Sir/mam I am facing at lot of problems in physics. I am in the ninth standard and I am unable to cope up with the subject.

    1. Hi Sristi,
Everyone would not be good in each subject but remember we all have some good command on some subjects. So don’t worry, be calm and think what are the topics which you have problems and then discuss topics with your school teacher or tuition teacher. And then practice that. Practice make your doubts clear.
      Good Luck!

  33. Hi,I am facing a lot of problem in physics what to do?

    1. Hello Ankit,
Most of the time students struggle with physics because their basic concept of the topic are not clear. Now when just couple of months are remaining for exams, giving the suggestion to first clear the basic is not a good idea. The best thing to do now is, making yourself strong in topics that are clear to you. If you can not go for the whole syllabus of physics, then don’t. But, you should make absolutely sure that other subjects like chemistry and biology are clear to you.

If you are willing to opt for science in class 11th, then i will suggest you to clear your basics of physics after the exam.

  34. Hi mam. I’m unable to study history and civis. Civics is still little easy to understand but history is quite difficult for me and I am scoring less mark only in this subject. I’m going to appear for board exam of 10th class in month of February so, give me tips to learn.

    1. Hi Devanshu.
As, you have mentioned that you are facing problem in history subject so my first advice to you is that while studying this subject always keep a notebook with you and write down all the important details like events, dates, names, battles, national movements etc. These short notes will help you remember and during examination you can easily do revision. Next important thing is regular revision. Whatever you study you must revise it within a given period of interval. Keep yourself focused while studying. If you like you can divide your syllabus and make a study plan and follow it sincerely. Since you don’t like history so whenever you start studying give one hour to that subject which you find easy in this way you can build you interest and then move on to other subject. Most importantly keep on doing the hard and you will score good marks for sure.

  35. Hi Sir/Maam. I am a student of class 9th fair in studies (get above 70 out of 80) but I know I can do better and want to score good marks in board. Please help me and I also want to ask that is GK a tremendously important subject as my parents always force me that learn those 10000 ques and you will master GK.

    1. Hi Shivesh.
It is good that you are capable for seeing your own potential. When you know that you can achieve better marks then all you are left to do is hard work. Keep yourself focused while studying. Remember it is not always about how many hours you study but how concentrate you are and regular in your studies. Be dedicated towards your studies. It is important that you follow a timetable because it maintains the consistency in your routine. Yes, Gk plays quite an important role when you will give competitive exams.
Now if you are thinking that it is not necessary for now because you are only in 9th but you see that by the time you will complete your 12th you would have already build up a habit of keeping yourself updated and then later on it will surely help you a lot. So, whenever you get free time or you want to take break from your studies just read some GK book. And keep on doing the hard work.

  36. Sir/mam could you please help me. I am unable to learn social science chapters. This is the reason why I am very weak in socials. Please help me. Thank you.

    1. Hi Vatsala.
Social Science is a subject in which you have to learn and remember a lot of things and that is why it becomes quite a difficult subject. The best way to approach is to write down all the important topics while studying like important events and dates. And next point to keep in mind is to do revision. Keep revising whatever you are studying in 10-15 days of interval. If you like you can also start with that section(History, Geography or Civis) which you find a little easy and interesting. Keep doing hard work and don’t give up just because it seems difficult to you. Be focused while studying and you will score good marks for sure.

  37. Hai mam/sir,
I am having 4 more days for chemistry exam and after that 2 more days for computer exam I don’t know what to do please help me prepare. I am in between board exams 4more to finish.

    1. Prof. Divyanshi Sharma

      Hi Emil.
First of all don’t get nervous. Just be dedicated towards your studies. Only few days are left for chemistry exam so, focus more on those chapters in which you are confident. Practice as much as you can. Most importantly be confident. While studying write down all the important reactions and don’t forget to revise them. Keep doing hard work and you will score good marks for sure.

  38. hlo.. mam..
I m ragini and I have one problem with my studies whenever I learn question / answers from different chapters it all became mess in my mind and then I lose my confidence at that point . and now m going to give my boards exams so it have became great problem for me… so mam I need ur help ….can u suggest me what I have to do in this problem..

    1. Prof. Divyanshi Sharma

      Hi Ragini.
You are not able to remember the the things that you learn because you don’t fully concentrate while studying. Keep your mind relaxed and focused while studying. Try to understand the concept rather then just mugging up the answers. Once you have cleared all the concepts it will become easy for you to answer the questions more appropriately. Don’t loose confidence as, it happens to most of the students. Just keep doing hard work and you will score good marks.

  39. Hlo my question is that how can i dig for 70% in boards is it eazy or hard?

    1. Prof. Divyanshi Sharma

      Hi Kanwar.
Yes, you can score good marks but you need to work really hard. Just be dedicated towards your studies. Practice from previous year paper and sample papers. As, not much time is left for exam time management is very important. Set a timetable and give equal time to every subject. Focus yourself on those chapters in which you are confident. Don’t forget to revise your chapters. Keep doing hard work.

  40. i have got 71% in pre board ,how can i increase my percentage above 90 in boards
